I bought a 500gb external hard drive a few years back to store my music on. As i was running out of space i recently decided to buy a 1000gb one. How do i move my music from my 500gb to the 1000gb without having to re-type all of the tracklistings in my media player. I tried a couple of ways that i found on the www but when i went to play the the ones i moved they wouldn't play.
I basically want everything as it is now on my Media Player & not lose any of the tracklists but the files to be moved to the new hard drive.
Can anybody help?

i think the easiest way to do this is to change the folder from which your media player is reading from. each external HD will, for the most part, stick to the same letter drive. so just change the letter drive. also make sure folder names containing these songs don't change after you transfer to your new HD

what media player are you using, sounds like you are trying to play them using a "media library" - which is why when you moved them it couldnt find the new location
i dont store mine in a media library, i just have Genre folders, or artist folders..
single mp3s
CDS
mixes
then in each of those a genre folder for each genre

You can either;
* Change Partition drive letter
* Edit the *.m3u/*.pls files to correct the driver letter
what media player do you use?
Winamp or foobar might be very easy, but I tried checking around the Windows Media Player files... their not raw text like winamp/foobar :/
