depending on what you're wanting to spin, find a local promoter that you feel would take your music seriously. so if you're wanting to play hardcore, find a promoter that books harder styles (dnb, hard house).

show up to these promoters parties and get to know them. offer yourself up for helping them before and after a party with setup & tear down.

be warned, some of these people can and will be the shadiest people you'll ever meet. there are some people out there that just want to have fun but, for the most part, all they want is money and who will bring people through the door.

also make sure you can beatmatch a set for a full 60 minutes with no major screw ups (ie sounding like you through shoes in a dryer).

make lots of promo cds & hand them out at parties to promoters. I know a couple local promoters who won't even consider booking someone unless they give them a hard copy demo.

well no one will expect you to be at that lvl in a short period of time as long as u can beatmatch and you don't trainwreck you should be ok as a beginner. the better you get, the more you'll benefit from things like internet radio. it happens over time, not overnight

I'm decent at beat matching. sometimes I lose where the bass of the songs are with all the other noises. But for the most part i'm ok.

I can not beatmatch DnB for the life of me though. any tips?
