Low Popularity is better than commercialized popularity! That's how it's supposed to be. Let the few who actually want to party have their scene, and let the commercialized clubbers have their own snobby scene.
yes but there is a such thing as too low a popularity. if there aren't enough ppl who enjoy the genre or mix the genre, then there wouldn't be any way to create a scene. u can mix it, but who will follow you?
I've found that the popularity of a specific genre at events is directly correlated to the marketing efforts by promoters
There was nearly no hardcore when I started promoted in Ottawa and it's now the most popular style... With that said, I haven't thrown any events recently, so it's starting to get replaced by gabber (ugggh).

Guess i'm lucky I live in Sydney, Australia and get huge hardcore/hardstyle/hard dance/gabber events like utopia, godspeed, prophecy and defqon1 I dont know what I would do without a rave scene in my country haha

First rave in 10 YEARS?! I don't think I could go 10 weeks tbh! Longest has been about 4-5 weeks and it was HELL! Glad you had fun though!
