I can not make a song to save my life. I have tried time and time again to make a decent song in FL but I just cant make it happen.

I watched the videos, downloaded some plugins, and got some samples. But I still cant make anything of it.

Is there any advice for someone as hopeless as me?
Its like a need a tutor or something.

Mu advice would be take a normal professionally done tune load it up in fruity loops and study it, play about with it, change it around a little.....

Its really not that simple as just opening up a program and being able to make a tune in a week with no experience. That shit takes time man...a real long time to get good at.

When is the last time you tried to do something that you had not had any teaching on whatsoever? Let's say for example you were illiterate on the subject of building computers and were then asked to build one, how do you think you'd manage? Making music is not any different. You have to learn the correct things. People do try though and the current Hardcore scene is a result of that, lol. And so i rest my case.

Well I've done pretty good on learning DJing on my own so far.
Sure I'm rough around the edges, but is easier then using FL.

DJing is incredibly simple though, it doesn't really require learning anything. It's nothing at all like learning music.

My point was you have to learn, regardless of how. You still had to do that didn't you?

Sorry, but only time can be helpful here.
I'm not going 2 give u a false hope now, it can take a long time. For some people it takes a few years, for me it took several months and some rare people can learn it in a month. So ure not the only 1 and shouldnt loose hope. No, ure not musically retarded xD.
If u know some1 who can teach u, thats gr8, ull make it shorter. And tutorials can help u 2.

What im trying 2 say is, u cant make a pro track immediately. In order 2 do that, u have to MAKE music, not loosing hope cuz something doesnt sound good. And u dont have 2 publish if u dont want 2.

This was my 1st track:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOMwCpkZ-gQ
Its shit, right xD? In that time I loved it, but today I would make it for less than 30min.

Make some "amateurish" tracks for the beginning and be proud about them. Ask people for their opinion like what u should improve and in the same time ull learn.

yes, as cruelcore1 said, don't pretend your first track is "THE" track, if you do this you are never going to progress because you'll keep getting frustrated.

a few advices from me:

1. first of all and most important: Learn some music theory.
I'm not say you have to become Mozart, but some music fundations like chords progressions, scales, harmony, etc it's absolutely necessary if you want your music to sound really good.

2. LISTEN TO THE MUSIC! Study it!
have a sit and play your favorite hardcore songs, but don't let yourself go with the happy vibes and start jumping all around (lol), instead of that, remain calm and pay attention to the song and all the things that are going on:

when does this sounds begins?
why does this segment has more energy than the one before?
which effect is that? etc, etc,

You will be surprised how many details are there but you never noticed them before, and how much important they are.

3. Listen both great and awfull songs:
If you can identify in a crappy song where exactly the crap is, then you can avoid that in your own tunes ;)

4. videos and tutorials only teach you how to use the tools, real creativity has to come from within you, from your talent and experience.

5. every.... EVERY musician has experience frustration and lack of ideas, so don't be to hard on yourself, the magic of hardcore will come to you eventually!

6. Music is like a struggle between the musician and the masterpiece: you have to push the track for as much as you can, trying to bring it to life, but sometimes you have to admit your defeat and move on to another track.

7.Don't put all your creative energy in a single track. instead try to start many projects at a time, so when you get tired of a project, you can switch to another. this will keep you excited and will increase your creative energy.

8. don't expect ALL your tracks are good. Behind a single good track of mine, there are literally 20-30 projects that suck and will never see the ligth. Thats just how it is.

9. sing and whistle!
music is not just sitting in front a computer 24/7
always be singing in your mind and/or whistling trying to find cool melodies. if you play traditional music instruments, play them randomly, etc.
Basically, think and imagine music 24/7, music is there, you just have to let it come, and when it does, get a microfone and record it! it migth never come back to you ever again!

uff, thats all I can think of now :P
hope it works
