Er, wait! Save your breath! The answer was right there in front of us in Phase's post!
"Out of the two records released, Fantasy was by far my favourite. It took an eternity to do as we were messed around by our first vocalist plus we all suffered severe writers block but we finished it in the end and all of us were happy with the results. Incidentally, the B side “Fantasy Island” was a track I put together in 21 hours – from start to finish. I was down the studio at 8:30am and I walked out at 5:30am (the next day) with a finished, mastered track."
There we go then! It is a Phase and Sniper track. Really wicked too, that sample does not do it justice! 21 hours and a great track!

I didn't even see that and I'm sure I've never read it before, even in 2002 lol. Obviously i have though. Anyway we already agreed that it was the b side as they only ever did 2 songs so it had to be, but with differing names :P

When i first started going to HTID (from HTID 1 to about HTID 20 or something like that) the 'Morning Glory' hour (5-6 am) in the main room always consisted of 95-99 classics. In fact you can still catch those sets all the time in the old school rooms of HTID/Uproar etc, though it's not main room but that's not a bad thing lol. Last rave i went to in Manchester Slipmatt played a set of 96-97 stuff, so did Vibes and so did Stu Allan, in fact the whole room was dedicated to that era.
Wow wicked! Shame I missed all the good stuff that went on ages ago >__< Have you heard any of Phase and Sniper's stuff? I really recommend fantasy island if you can get hold of it, it's got a really kind of neverland feel to it and wow I listened to it yesterday for the first time in ages, REALLY took me elsewhere.
you can get the tape decks for those events off of ebay etc if you wanna check them out:)

Every now and then I'll do a quick Google to see if anyone still listens to our old tracks and I came across this thread - I hope you don't mind me resurfacing it back to the top. It's actually been 10 years (!) since I replied to the last topic about Fantasy (Phase vs. DJ Sniper) - you can see that one here: http://www.happyhardcore.com/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=4539&SearchTerms=sonic,boom for reference. Wow - I am definitely getting old now! Anyway - just to clear up some confusion on the whole Fantasy/Fantasy Island fiasco We did only release two records but effectively, four tracks. There was Forevermore and Ignition Sequence Start on the first release and Fantasy and Fantasy Island on the second release. We did write other tracks but never released them. I've not heard the tracks we didn't release for over 10 years so I'm hoping to meet up with Bob (our Producer) for a catch up and look back at some of the tracks. Hopefully I can get some to upload and share. For those of you who want to hear Fantasy - there's a copy on YouTube here: http://youtu.be/pPmjliS2ma0 (plus lots of other Hardcore classics) Fantasy Island, with a little help from the Google machine, I found a downloadable version here: http://www.mediafire.com/?5mzlz2onmzk I'm afraid the others, I haven't yet found (I would upload them but my old record player broke about 12 years ago!). If I do, I'll update this post. Finally, shameless plug, but I thought you might like to hear a Hardcore track I did a few years back called 'Neverland'. Some of you will be familiar with the vocals. They've been available to buy online for sometime so there are many different mixes of this track - mostly Trance. I expect there are quite a few hardcore mixes about as well. Anyhow, I thought I'd do my version. It will sound a little dated in comparison to the more recent Hardcore stuff but once again I've been out of the loop for sometime. Still, it's one of my favourites. It's never been released and it's my gift to the hardcore community. I'll see if I can upload a downloadable version to Soundcloud shortly. Will provide a link once it's up. In the meantime, it's on YouTube here: http://youtu.be/0UENH5QzaXw Enjoy! Georgio (Phase)

Wow! Weirdly enough this exact song appeared on my Facebook wall last night. I said it before in this thread but I love Fantasy Island so so so much, it just has this quality that always hit me in the right place, I've always been a fan of the happier, dreamy side of happy hardcore but non-existant nowadays. Do you (and Sniper?) have any plans to get into Hardcore again? I think the scene is moving so fast that most people are just doing whatever they like, even if you were to make 'dated' hardcore it'd probably go down well with a bunch of people.

yea, look at Freestyle, Olly Addictive & TTE, they are thinking of restarting their Smiling Corpse label with 2000-2004-ish freeform.

Yeah, everyone's got such a divided opinion on Hardcore that it'll actually help the scene in the long run because finally people will start branching off and doing their own thing instead of just following the herd. It'll probably split up a lot of scene politics as well if people are left to their own devices, and thank bleep for that!!

I think it's unlikely we'll do more tracks together as we're all leading seperate lives now. I was 19 when we released our tracks. I'm 34 this year :) *Gulp*
I still tinker but it's a hobby. It's a great way to forget everything and literally get lost in music.
Every now and then I'll do a hardcore track because I grew up with the music and it will always remain close to my heart - even when I'm 90!
I have a few other tracks but they are far from complete but they do have the older style so maybe I'll work on finishing them off. If I know people want to hear my music, even if it's only a few people, I'd happily continue.

Well I DEFINITELY do! What kind of Hardcore inspired you to write the Phase and Sniper tracks you guys did? Were you just making hardcore music for the current time or were you a big fan of the 1997 vocal happy hardcore? It's crazy how time flies. I think I was 7 years old when Fantasy Island came out (1998), and now I'm 20. I completely missed the era of hardcore I love, and weirdly enough much like there are producers in their 30s who are starting to bring the breakbeat early 90s back, there's a small gathering of 90s kids trying to bring the later happy hardcore back too.

I was actually really in to it around the time of the Fusion/Origin events - Druid (and Sharkey), Sy and Scott Brown - when it started to evolve a little from a heavy breakbeat influence to more 4/4 with a lot of tracks coming down from Scotland - Scott Brown ("Now is the time" etc). Our producer (Bob - aka Dysector/Ni-Cad) was at one stage quite well connected with Scott Brown. I believe Scott remixed one of his tracks called "Brainwash" - the original is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqxvhiyoGQA . I didn't start producing until really the vocal stuff started to take off. I guess it was around the time of Force & Styles were pumping out some of their classics and of course, "Come and Follow me", "Shooting Star" etc. I'm not a massive fan of working with vocals - kind of gets in the way but at the same time, if you have some really good vocals it can make it easier to get inspired - the difficult stuff is finding a good vocalist and coming up with some decent, non-cliche lyrics - Something I'm not very good at! My influences are all sorts. I've always liked big melodic uplifting drop downs and the good old hoover style stabs in between each kick (which you'll notice a lot of in my stuff). Pretty common, generic stuff but for me, it's what makes a good track. The track Fantasy Island, in essence, is actually quite basic but hey, it was a B side and I had one day to make it. I don't recall it getting played much which was a shame. The main influence from that was Sharkey/Force & Styles I guess - I remember Force & Styles used to use a really distinctive kick drum with a lovely umph to it if you know what I mean - I used a similar one in Fantasy Island. The big electric guitar sound was used as the lead as I wanted it to be a little different from the generic stabs that were used quite a lot. I wanted to give it something distinctive. I guess now I'm more influenced by Trance - which if you combine with Hardcore, you can get a really good sound as well. Plus, with the Internet, thousands of easily accessible samples and software based music production tools, making music is soooo much easier and a hell of a lot cheaper than it used to be. Back on the old days, you had a bunch of keyboards, a crappy sampler and a few sound modules and that was it. If you wanted more sounds you either made your own (which was tricky but quite fun) or you had to buy a sample CD which meant a trip up to London, cost a fortune and there was very limited stuff out there for Hardcore. Now you have so much more. Thank the lord for the Internet!

Interesting stuff! I like influences of trance in hardcore but I prefer them in the breakdowns rather than the leads but they're so common in UK Hardcore now it'd be unusual to not use them and you'd probably find yourself in the 'old skool' box by default just by choosing not to use them. I've always wanted to do something with a big dreamy sitar breakdown but to use an electric sitar with a vibrato pedal rather than a sitar plugin, but then I started making music when I was 15 with a crappy acoustic guitar using a 20 pence piece as a pick and working with software where I have to click on things to make noises drives me mad sometimes, purely just because I have so many options to choose from that I find myself totally lost. Do you follow modern trance at all? There seems to be a lot of emotional uplifting stuff on one side and then more minimal, slower euphoric stuff on the other side right now.

Some of our posts were from last year though! I can see one of my 2010 signature long, run-on paragraphs with awful grammar and full of mistakes from my speed days, compared to my drawn out weed posts from the 2011. Maybe 2012 will be the start of nonsensical acid threads.
