I've illeaglly downloaded tracks and live sets from slammin vinyl, helter skelter e.t.c but that was 11 and 10 years ago when i was 13,and i havn't downloaded since legally or illegally and as audio said i prefer cds than digital and thats why i wouldn't buy certain hardcore comps cause there digi only,i want cds, plus i i'm older and wiser now and have money so i can spend it supporting the scene

i dont download tracks, i buy them, less than 2.00 it's not that bad. But i have to own up, i do send tracks to people, sometimes people send me tracks but nearly all the tracks i have ive paid for.

Thats all i seem to be buying, i get my clothes paid for, i get my food paid for, so i just end up buying tracks all the time.

Warmup question:
1. Have you ever shared or downloaded any files, illegally or legally?
Yes

Questions for those who have downloaded anything illegal:
2. Have you downloaded illegally?
Yes

3. How old where you when you/how far back was it when you started downloading illegally?
10 years ago, was ~ 18 at time.

4. What have you downloaded illegally? (no need to be specific,, just mention music, games or whatsoever).
Pretty much everything at least once. But in the past (probably) 5 years 95% have been TV series and porn.

5. What have you uploded illegally? (no need to be specific,, just mention music, games or whatsoever).
As above

6. What kind of application/protocol did you use to mainly download these materials?
t*rr**t

Opinion on Piracy:
7. What is your opinion on this issue?
flexible and changes from time to time.

8. Grade how you feel about it, with the numbers 0 to 5, where 0 is for a very negative stance and 5 is for a very positive stance towards piracy.
2

9. Select the option closest to you're reason for downloading (or not).
c You wish that pirates would stop what their doing and start to actually support the creators. (proper earnings)
The ideal situation of course, though life isnt as black and white. From the product i grab from the store, only a fraction go to the persons the industry make you believe they go to.

d You want to support the creators of the material, but you have a big hole in your wallet. When you get more money, you'd gladly pay again. (poor)
This is the case with few software products (that would need my whole paycheck from 3 months to buy it), ive installed my work computer software to my home computer. Dont know if that qualifies as filesharing though

e You want to be able to play/listen to/watch older material that has either been abandoned or deleted. (nostalgic)
If theres no real reason for it to not be released for free (no profit to be made). I dont see the wrong in dling it.

f You download to have the material, and as soon as you can, you will buy it. (earlybird)
I often buy the TV series if i can get the complete collection for a good price. But depends on the serie. Great series i always buy. But i download them so i see them when their released. I couldnt read any topics related to those series if i didnt. As they show them here few years after, if ever, after they've showed them in US.

g You download for preview purpose, or if you have already made the purchase and just want to get the material quicker. (preview)
This i do sometimes for software.

10. What do you think should be done to either prevent or make it better?
I donno. But every restriction. Every minute i have to waste by watching anti piracy commercials, make me favour piracy more and more. So i guess the number one thing would be to stop pissing in the paying customers eye. I've been thinking of taking a new stance on filesharing: "If the copyright holder prevents me from buying it, its OK to download it."

Warmup question:

1. Have you ever shared or downloaded any files, illegally or legally?

I have shared and downloaded files, illegally and legally.

----

Questions for those who have downloaded anything illegal:
If you're conscience is clean, you can skip these questions.

2. Have you downloaded illegally?

Yeah

3. How old where you when you/how far back was it when you started downloading illegally?

Started with some of S3RL's songs, and this was about 3-4 years ago.

4. What have you downloaded illegally? (no need to be specific,, just mention music, games or whatsoever).

Music. Haven't DLed any movies or games.

5. What have you uploaded illegally? (no need to be specific,, just mention music, games or whatsoever).

Music.

6. What kind of application/protocol did you use to mainly download these materials?

RapidShare, Filestube, and MediaFire, and a long time ago MP3bee (lol). No *******s though. =D

----

Opinion on Piracy:

7. What is your opinion on this issue?
Please try to be as personal as possible. Don't use someone else experience with piracy, unless you know the person, and know enough to actually be accurate.

I really started hating it when I realized how much I love Hardcore and how much it kills the scene. I now bash on everyone I know for downloading any song, pop house hardcore whatever. I specifically hate those who use YouTube to MP3 sites or Audacity, not only is it illegal it's quality is also horrible.

8. Grade how you feel about it, with the numbers 0 to 5, where 0 is for a very negative stance and 5 is for a very positive stance towards piracy.

1; I hate pirating music, but movies and other crap I don't mind, mainly because I don't do it myself, someone else in my family does.

9. Select the option closest to you're reason for downloading (or not).
You might be able to select one or more options, as long as you don't contradict yourself :P
a Pirates should be hunted for the rest of their life, or executed on the spot! (eye for an eye)
b The government should make more strict laws about copyright infringements. (proper legislation)
c You wish that pirates would stop what their doing and start to actually support the creators. (proper earnings)
d You want to support the creators of the material, but you have a big hole in your wallet. When you get more money, you'd gladly pay again. (poor)
e You want to be able to play/listen to/watch older material that has either been abandoned or deleted. (nostalgic)
f You download to have the material, and as soon as you can, you will buy it. (earlybird)
g You download for preview purpose, or if you have already made the purchase and just want to get the material quicker. (preview)
h You download for just to have it. (database)
i You don't give a damn. If it's up, its on your harddrive! (criminal)

C and E (for certain things, ROMs ftw!)

10. What do you think should be done to either prevent or make it better?

I've thought about this alot, and since Hardcore is starting to go digital, I have no idea how to prevent filesharing. If anything I don't want the music I buy legally to have a contract attached to it (for example inability to burn to CDs, back up, etc). I really see no solution to the problem.

----

99. Comments?

I see myself going backwards, I'm planning on grabbing a J-Core CD sometime soon and even considering a vinyl (because they are uber awesome). That and I forgot which label stopped pressing records, but I want to grab one of those records before they're gone forever. I'm sort of a collector.
----

I can't come up with more questions as of yet, but I would like to make more questions. If you can come up with a question, I will consider adding it

You know you could have all said this in PM if you guys dont want to say something :P

Anyways, I got more for my 10th question (and 9 too).

"You might be a kid, and want to buy music. You got the money and all... but you're missing something. Yea, it's likely you are missing a specific card. A Credit Card, like Visa or Mastercard."

Based on the knowledge I was handed when I applied for my card, you need to have an steady income to apply for a Visa, even without Credit (directly connected to my bak account instead). I was lucky at the time i got mine that I had a steady income of ~100 punds a month (without childcare/study money included), so I was approved for it.

I think more people would buy more music online if they had the needs to get a creditcard easier.

You mean a debit card/chequing account?

I think people would buy more ANYTHING online if they had a credit card, which is silly to get in the first place especially if you're only looking to get one to buy music with. It's definitely not mandatory to be able to buy the music you like. Paypal definitely works and a lot of shops accept it.
