Was on of one of Brisks fan pages the other week and there was a topic about preferring vinyl or digital. Apparently Brisk and Ham are considering making their labels completely digital.
For me it will be very sad if this happens. But I guess times change. Makes me wonder how much longer new hardcore will be available to play on your technics turntables.
Seems nice to have the option to buy a track on Vinyl.
Is funny how Alternative record releases has become very popular again but in the Dance scene it's the complete opposite.

I've noticed how he's posted this on Facebook. He asked how many were actively buying vinyl and whatnot?? I'm sure he's putting it into question but nothing has been decided as far as I know. A few hardcore labels have stopped pressing vinyl: Executive and Nu Energy.

It just simply isn't selling well.

I suppose there is, & always will be the diehards that buy vinyl (myself included) but obviously, overall it's just not big business in Hardcore anymore & not worth while for the labels to pay to print them.

It is quite a sad situation to see even the biggest labels finally calling it quits with Vinyl. It's the end of an era. Serato Scratch Live for me then.

Has either considered making lossless (preferably FLAC) versions available of songs on the NG store?

Yeah Vinyl has become a novelty. I guess the only incentive is that no digital only label has ever won Hardcore label of the year. The top labels still release vinyl. Question is how long can they keep going.

its a shame vinyl is coming to its end :(
there has been a fair few good labels stop pressing vinyl this year - nu energy, executive records, recycled records and even ourselves at Raw Elements have just released our first digital only release.

Im still holding onto all my vinyl collection though no matter what, theres so many early next gen and blatent beats in there plus all the early raver baby, jelly baby, stompin tunes, fusion records, thin n crispy, slammin vinyl and to many more

Then it comes down to whether Brisk & Ham wanted to cease vinyl released or physical releases in general.

It's not like I'd be against CD releases though. The main aspects that matter to me in the end are decent mastering, no loudness warring, and no artifacting from compression.

Well for many people there simple isn't any alternative. You can't substitute vinyl with something else, it's either vinyl or nothing. Digital formats just aren't the same. I think it's only in Hardcore that it's a real problem as sales already aren't that high in any format. Stuff like DnB etc i would have though while having less vinyl sales are still getting more than enough for it to keep going for a long time.

I doubt vinyl will cease any time soon for DNB djs... infact most of the DNB producers/djs I know/of actively buy vinyl and play with it.

It's not just the novelty of mixing vinyls that i'm going to miss, it's the overall drop in sound quality that 'MP3 only' mixing will bring to events & mixes.

It's a proven fact that even the best (320kb/s) MP3's can't compare to the sound from a vinyl. But if this isn't bad enough you've got right tight arse DJ's that settle for buying the (192kb/s) (why this is even available is beyond me) & play them out at events. Then you get right complete morons that dl their whole library illegally where some of the tracks are barely even reaching 192 & still proceed to playing them live.

Quality control is seriously out the window now.

Have to agree. There is no quality about having a tune on MP3. Just not the same as Vinyl and never will be.
Maybe CD singles is the answer like Samination said.
