No, go on say it. Raves came before hardcore did, I'd like to know why you think rave is dead because hardcore doesn't sound like it did pre 92

Before Rvae it was Acid House. Breakbeat & Hardcore Techno was some of the first types of popular rave music. The stuff of today is far from it.

The first rave parties played Acid House. There is no 'rave music' as a genre - only music that is played at raves. Early Hardcore came some years after Acid House. To say that rave is dead is implying that raves no longer happen which is completely untrue. In the end genre has got sod all to do with raves.

not wanting to get involved but ...every ..single...sentence in that article is followed by "[citation needed]"

wiki is good....but only when used wisely, citeing a wiki entry that has no citeations isnt a wise use of it, and more often than not shows that the wiki entry is based on opinion and nothing more.

Not only that, but it even says in the first sentence "Rave music consists of forms of electronic dance music that are associated with the rave scene." considering just about every type of electronic music is played at raves, it doesn't really work in your favour. Rave music is whatever music is played at a rave.

If I were to take a wild guess at your mentality here Shades_of_Grey, I would say that you seem to be under the impression that old skool hardcore is the only type of 'rave music' and therefore, because nobody is making it anymore that rave must be dead. Both of these statements are incorrect.

lol

i quoted the wiki because that is exactly how i remember it happening.

i didnt say the two tunes killed 'Raves' i said RAVE

heres how i saw it, after the two tunes i mentioned were released & broke into the charts, the music genre 'rave' (which is what it was called at the time) died a very quick violent death & jungle took over in popularlty....

agree to disagree if you like, but thats how it happened in my eyes, i lived through it & I stopped buying 12" records coz all the record shops were then stocking jungle!

i dont expect a lot of members are old enough to remember tbh

it's not my mentality it's a memory!

If it died then why is it still alive today?? And why are you only just being specific now of all times? And why the need for the facepalm? surely you're supposedly old enough to realise when you haven't made yourself clear and should rephrase instead of throwing childish little comments like that at people! "/end" grow up!!

well I am old enough to remember, and loads of tunes made the charts in them days, and can't remember 2 tunes destroying anything, all I remember was going to local places (rhyl) and going to kinetic (once a month payday) and the scene being f**king hectic! and also going to small raves in north wales, and everyone in the north listening to key103 for the tunes and places to go! i take you live in the south because north of watford the scene was imense!

The funny thing is, that tue sounds just as fresh as te stuff you will be hearing on the next Clubland! Sure it is based on 'Old Skool' but the tune is brand new and sounds fresh which goes to show that even Old Skool sounding tunes are far from 'dated'
