If you want mind blowing quality like some AKGs you're going to spend in the hundreds of dollars, whereas mind blowing quality from IEMs comes at under 100 garunteed.
not reallllllyyyyyyyy.
Decent iem's can come at under 100. same as decent full size cans. For iem quality on par with good headphones, your paying a couple hundred, actually will be paying almost the same.

The klipsch have exaggerated bass. If my understanding is correct, the shure are generally quite bass light.

pmsl @ Tri ^^^^^ genius! = P
I can't stand in ear headphones & haven't used them for years now. They've damaged my ears & if I could back & destroy every pair I owned, I would.
People are ripping their ears to pieces with these health hazzards & should be aware just what damage is being done. Ok, you could argue that if you listen at a safe lavel you will be ok but come on, limiters are near enough non existent these days & you only have to stand on the train, bus to hear just how loud people listen to music. I could dance next to most people & enjoy the tunes just as much as them.
Get yourself a nice set of headphones. You might get a few funny looks but atleast you'll hold onto your hearing a bit longer. Be warned !

while this might be true, most ppl who switch from iem to regular headphones would still bring the volume up to the same amount that they did with their iem, only thing is you have other ppl being distracted by what you're listening to.

This is what we call natural selection. The great thing about IEMs vs. traditional clunky headphones is that they're earplugs AND audio devices. For instance, when I have both earbuds in, my Zune is never above 50% volume, and its on average around 30%, because there's really just no point in turning them up.

It's becoming pretty popular, actually. At least on my campus... everyone and their mother has some giant ass skullcandies that they wear everywhere.
