that could be said for hardcore itself as nothing actually defines hardcore as a genre

not really... hardstyle can be whacked up to 170bpm and can sound hardcore... yet isn't .. marc smith used to speed hardstyle up at the end if his hardcore sets... so us sped up hardstyle now hardcore?... drum n bass us the same speed... yet us noonger hardcore...

bpm dusnt define hardcore...

Yes, but hardstyle is rarely 170bpm. Tempo alone doesnt define hardcore, but all the other elements you hear means only you as an individual can dertermine/judge.

i dont know if its worth debating with you on this....

4/4 kick with bass stabs, saw leads are elements that are custom in hardcore. those kinds of elements. Percussion formations and so on.

some elements are shared with other genre's yes. But those elements in a style with that tempo normally make it hardcore.

of course there are other elements, all i said was speed is a good place to start, most drum n bass can be around 170bpm too..

whats with all the questions, you dont have to try and convince me - sounds like you're the insecure one ;)

my god, can anybody here read?

starting point.....do i have to define that - thats like two people now who have picked up on that.

a good starting point for making a cake is eggs.

make sense now? lol

but thankyou for pointing out that house and trance often have the same BPM it never before clicked in my head when i was mixing the 1000+ pieces of house and trance vinyl i have that they are quite similar in speed! ;)

I made a hardcore track today. It has 120bpm.

Look, tempo doesnt act as an element in defining a genre in most cases. There is pop at 180bpm.

However, Hardcore is faster than other dance genres due to its bpm, and high tempo makes it a defining difference.
