I bought this game a couple of days and beat it yesterday - I love it! I grew up with DKC and DKC2 on the SNES so this was a great throwback to the ol' days.
How cool is the music!? The Music Madness stage is just so awesome, just listen to the music. The intro sounds like it'll drop into some drumstep!
I also love the update of the Fear Factory music from DKC! Awesome!
It wasn't as hard as people has said, but maybe that's cause I grew up with these kinds of games? Kinda disappointed I never got to see the "Game Over" screen... haha.
The song in particular I really liked! I'm so glad they didn't do away with all the original DKC songs for the soundtrack. I still think it was a hard game. Not so much hard to play as it is hard to memorize. So much of the game lends itself to memorization that it became hard to beat a lot of levels without trial by error, which got annoying. I grew up with the DKC series on the SNES and it's one of my most favorites game series, so maybe it's not because you grew up with these games that you didn't find it hard. This game is different than the older ones. ;)

It was a bit different from the older games, yeah, but not too much. Funny enough, the stages that brought me the most trouble were the flying rocket levels - that new gameplay mechanic. I think it might boil down to people being so used to easy games nowadays (I always chose hardest difficulty setting if I can, even that can be easy to get through, it's a shame really :/) that it's those people that complain about the difficulty.
Of course, I have yet to beat all the bonus stages. I only unlocked a few so far. I beat three of them and one of them I gave up on (the rising lava one), gonna get back to that one later. Haha.
Did you ever play Metroid Prime? Same dude who did the music for Metroid Prime (lovely music) did the music for this game. If you played any Metroid Prime and can remember some of the music, listen to the tune Smoking Peaks from the DKCR soundtrack and you can confuse that tune with Metroid Prime's music, haha.

Yeah I played through it but haven't gotten around to doing the bonus areas yet. The flying rocket levels are a fun addition, but wow I raged so much learning the right path you have to follow to not die...
Yeah Kenji Yamamoto did the soundtrack. I'm not a Metroid player but I recognize a few tunes.
I was hoping for David Wise to make a come back and do the soundtrack but that's just because I'm the biggest fan of his DKC music. Like I said though I'm glad they kept some of the music :)

Sonic Colours: The new Sonic Colours is fun, nice cut scenes, fast gameplay (already on the second world after 10 min of playing), controls are decent, voice acting is pretty good, so much word play(i love it!). So far it is one of the best Sonic games, next to the second on for the genesis.
Voice acting in Sonic? I haven't played a Sonic game since the Sega Mega drive and there certainly wasn't any dialog in that :P
Is the new one like the old ones? I've seen clips and stuff of the ones from the last few years and I don't like the look of them at all. I prefer the old ones coz they were simple and just fun.
I got Sonic 1 & 2 & Knuckles on my xbox and they keep me happy.

I didn't rage so much learning the path, but more that I had trouble getting the correct altitude! I absolutely wanted to kill someone when I did Gear Getaway (the Factory level) during the last part where you have to keep a constant set altitude through a couple of compressors. Oh god I hated it! Haha.
I love the old DKC music, especially DKC2. I mean, Stickerbrush Symphony and Mining Melancholy are just breathless. Even if you don't like video games, I think one would appreciate Stickerbrush.

Wilky, did you break your Wii or did you mean "I got so angry with the game I wanted to break my Wii"? :P
