How much is a macbook pro over that side of the world?

13" 2.4GHz = $1200 / 2.66GHz = $1500
15" 2.4GHz = $1800 / 2.66GHz = $2200
17" 2.53GHz = $2300

Btw, to answer to this, a program that isn't "compatible" can be fixed with a given time to work on it perfectly. And things like games can play through Wine, or similar programs.

If you try to start messing with Apple programs and the OS itself to get things to work, you'd void all warranty, and they wouldn't even touch your computer like it's made of nuclear material.

You mean it can be fixed through programming? That's a little bit beyond the scope of 90% of computer users don't you think?

but here's an example that happened to me about two weeks ago. Me and a mate were buying lights to go with our dj set up (we do parties and whatnot) and we learnt that we can set the whole thing up for automation through a program on a PC. Awesome, we thought. Since my mate has a macbook, we'll just grab something for Mac. Nope. Not only did they not sell anything like that for Mac, but the manager at the store didn't even KNOW of any similar programs that were mac compatible that could do it - so now, we're stuck doing it manually.

There very well might be programs that do similar, but it's not well known. And if it's not well known how good could it be? No thanks, rather keep my PC and be able to do everything. I'm not going to buy an overpriced bit of hardware to put myself at a disadvantage.

That's why 90% of computer users use Windows.

I am both a PC and Mac Fan for different reasons.

PC is no doubt for gamers and Macs are for Audio/Video/Photo Editing. Of course I have found Mac apps than dont run on windows and it is the opposite as well.

Apple Computers have gotten cheaper and faster over the last few year which is fantastic and I do think the 27" iMac is great value for what you get.

I do know that not everyone like Apple Hardware and Software but I do know they are seriously worth the money if You love you Audio, Video and Photos :)

Logic Pro 9 is one damn good piece of advanced software to produce music but of course not everyone likes to use it.

It always comes down to... Your Preference of Using Windows, Mac OSX or even Linux :)

I suggest give all a try and see what works out for you best :)

For myself, for Windows, I love Windows XP and 7 and Also I love Mac OSX for anything Audio, Video and Photos and hint of gaming :P

Linix is not for me but Still I can see the advantages of having Linux :)
