Really like the techno sounding aspect about it, but with vague distinct hardcore melodies flirting in and out. And stonking dnb break down. hardcore dnb is so much better than standard dnb. Dunno what it is.
also Is there any way to embed vids here? i can seem to see a toggle or anything?
Found an interesting insight to this freeform tag. I've never heard of it myself. it was when things slowly started to improve on the productions around 2000 + where I probably missed out. Thats where i started moving over to different music i lost touch with the scene.

Only if it meant more people read the topic. It's quite clear what you mean when you said Trancecore, as that's still a proper term. Currently there is only a small number of people on this forum that actually listen to Hardcore that old let alone the more refined stuff. It generally consists of under 20 year olds that only recently got into Hardcore and actually don't listen to the same genre you and me do, all the people like us have long gone for the most part. On ush.net however there is a huge number of people who like that stuff and indeed all old Hardcore. Much older crowd.

Stompin Choonz is basically my favourite label ever.
i have scanned something a while back that i keep meaning to put online for old times sake - i used to get the paper-version of Stage One's catalogue, that was at a time when Stompin Choonz was only up to about 14 :)
i still have it, its a 10 page booklet, nice piece of history, takes me back!
as matt said, there are only a small handful of us on here.

So it's people who are in to the new kinda hardcore that is basically trance and hardhouse sped up, all sparkly and commercial that post here? Don't get me wrong, dont want to offend anyone, some pretty good music out there, and amazing production but i like stuff with a little character, and be able to tell the difference between tracks where they don't all sound like they were made by the same person. But i can't really say that cos i'm up to date with the scene.
I think i'm more drawn to the harder side of the industry nowadays. The light gabba, upbeat harddance stuff. Just abit more of an edge than the cheryl cole remixes and the like in the happy hardcore side.
Yeah i remember stage one. I thik i used to find sheets with the latest tracks from them in records i bought.

To be honest i never really thought that much of it back then. Not that i didn't like it because i did but as i've got older i learned to like it more & appreciate it. It's was something different to the usual happy stuff that got played. Ramos & Billy Bunter were playing it back then too.

No your absolutely right on all accounts. Obviously before this rubbish came about there was a very different following on here but as i said they are mostly long gone.

I dissagree on both accounts lol.
quote:Well this what i don't get, i guess it's all down to production. I would love it it if there was a little clan of people trying to capture, what now is an oldskool sound. I guess it's going to be hard for me to start the revolution. You just see it with every other music people using old skool vibes and techniques. Even it it wasn't taking seriosuly in the hardcore scene i'd been quite happy if it was sat in a little area with the electronica and breakcore scene. It would go down well at bang face!
The nefti tracks are wicked and absolutely capture the of old happy hardcore/oldskool hardcore. But i guess the trancecore sound is a little more specific.
Lol yeah i realised i went off topic somewhat lol but was worth mentioning anyway. No one is making the 90's Trancecore stuff, at all (that I'm aware of anyway), it was only a small few to begin with anyway really!
quote:Where did the term Freeform come from I've never heard of it. I think i can vaguely remember a compilation with the name.
I don't know but it came about in the 2000's. Sounds much better than Trancecore imo!
I think you'll find the word freeform was well in use in the 90's as even what a rush 3 is called"chemical generation the ultimate freeform experience"
And by the way the term trancecore sucks donkey dick

*grabs copy off cd shelf*
"Bringing music styles together and working against segregation in the dance scene, some people call this Dance phenomenon TRANCE CORE, a tag which has caused mixed reactions from the would be purists of Hard Dance. But many of you will already be familiar with this term from for the merger between Hardcore and Hard Trance/ House."
thats copied word for word (capitalisations and everything lol)
not real point in me posting it, but makes for an interesting read i guess..dates dont really matter, each to their own really.
personally i think trancecore sounds and looks odd, don't really care what people call it though :)
