Nowt wrong with thinking big!
Seriously though, won't happen for a long time - if ever. We've more or less reached the limit of what's possible with current technology.

cars are so bloody insane these days, 50 years ago something with 160bhp was considered fast, now thats pretty much the standard for a family sedan now

I'm a bit of an eco-friendly person so that sort of thing doesn't impress me in the slightest. Top Gear is all about the gimmicks nowadays anyway..!

160 is peanuts.
Motorbikes have just reached a milestone. Road legal motorbikes have just started to eclipse 200 bhp. that is with a 1000cc engine. That is 200 bhp/L. The average sedan will be about 3 litres. Sports cars are getting 75-100 bhp/L. Nowhere near maximum potential.

The Veyron isn't the fastest car anymore, short after it made the record it's been beaten by a Shelby which is american!
I personally love Top Gear, it's just great and Jeremy Clarkson is the best :) He is a good car reviewer but also more of an entertainer, that's why some cars will get a "he-doesn't-like-it-so-it's-shit" review.
My favourite cars are I guess either AMG or Brabus, best form of understatement... wolves in sheep's wool ;)

The 'sports' model of the veyron is now the fastest road legal car.
