You can make a website but you'll only get noticed if the right people look at it. There are millions of websites, how will the people you want to look at your site know to be looking at it?

Making a site is really easy. The hard part comes with filling it up with the right content and then advertising it. Personally I would suggest foregoing the creation of a website until you have some more exposure within the scene because it could be a waste of time and money.

My advice goes back to my first response to your "how to get noticed" thread. Soundcloud, youtube, facebook, myspace...So many DJ's, Producers, MC's, Promoters and fans are all on those type of social networking sites that you'd be a fool not to use them. Know your target audience, get the people on your friends list (most are willing to accept friend requests) and then start asking for advice and send them your stuff. Social networking is exactly what it says it is, so go do it

you only need a website if you wish to stick out even more from others. I presume soundcloud should be good enough to make a presentation. Unless you're a label or mayor producer, I dont know why you should get a website?

Having a website as a mayor of a town is big business, I hear.

Simply put, having a website would make more of a personalized approach to you displaying yourself. This could be both good, and and bad, depending if you put the right content up. Having a nice bio could be good, but having a shit load of crap about your life isn't necessary.

Having a website can push towards displaying yourself in a way another website couldn't by just putting up content. Giving background, videos, promotions, etc. all in one with a good website set up would make more of an impression, in my opinion.

yea, but as Mortis said, it's fairly easy... If you have the proper tools for it.

personally, I make my website fully by code. I basicly just use Notepad to construct it (and various art software or imagepacks for images). I've been doing this since 1996, but Im still not very good at keeping a good design.

Flavors.me is really good. You can plug in soundcloud, facebook etc. and all your pages into one slick-looking homepage!
