Just wanted to know if anybody has done any work on Technics SL1210 mk.II's. The leads on mine are beginning to play up so i'm gonna buy some better quality ones but wanted to know how hard they are to install. I've looked on the www but not really found anything of use. Do you think i should have a go myself or get them repaired by a pro?

hey, mine are going too and i did watch some videos on the cable repair.

i took mine apart to see where everything was soldered together and it looks like if you have a steady hand it should be no problem. i personally haven't done them yet but i am very confident you don't need much of a background in soldering

i am of the thinking that if i am able to do it, i might as well instead of paying someone else. besides, ya might learn something (like how to charge other people $75 to do theirs or something).

What leads are you talking about exactly? Try this for the manual, it might give you a good idea on how to repair them: http://www.vinylengine.com/library/technics/sl-1210.shtml

Failing that, just open them up and asses the situation. You might find it's really easy to do the work yourself.
