Apparently they never forget, which is comforting, as it proves that I'm not an Elephant

....having forgotten what it was I was about to post....

....any ideas?

I'm in Thailand. One of Thailand's national beers is Chang. Chang is the Thai word for Elephant. The elephant also has a deep cultural meaning and significance here.

This stuff is lethal. Anyone that's drunk it will know. Don't confuse it with the Export Chang available in the UK. The 6.4% Chang out here is "unregulated" - which means the strength from bottle to bottle varies, quite a lot in most cases. I'm a pretty big drinker, but five or six large bottles of this sends me a bit loopy - it's a weird kind of drunk. I think there's some weird shit in it. The above reasons are why I drink almost exclusively Chang out here. Nice little head-fcuk every time you're pissed. Lovely.

LOL. That first sentence followed by the second one is pretty hillarious. I'm not a fan of weak piss (or just lager in general) aka lager. I like my beers strong. I want to really feel the alcohol after the first drink, lol.

Ha ha! You seriously do feel it after just one bottle. That said, the bottles are the big 600ml-Cobra-sized ones.

Another drink that gets me seriously shit faced out in Asia is Vietnamese Rum. For weeks I was drinking it - under the impression that it was being mixed in this (roughly) half pint sized glass with some kind of mixer - lemonade or tonic water perhaps. However, after seeing them prepare it as I went for a piss one night (the bar was enroute to the pisser - they didn't prepare it in the toilets) I was rather alarmed to see that the entirety of the liquid was rum. No wonder it was getting me shit faced. I was drinking it as though it was a whiskey and coke, not just straight alcohol. Cheap as chips though. About 75p for roughly half a pint. Needless to say, I had a good time in Vietnam.

they are going to clone baby mammoths by mixing mammoth dna with elephants...apparently people have forgotten that babies grow up. however I am interested in trying mammoth steaks/burgers =P

Jurassic Park is quite realistic actually, I remember 1-2 years ago on TV they showed how you could create your own real dinosaur with the DNA of some birds. And that's what they talk about at the beginning of JP, actually the majority of Dinosaurs are quite similar to birds.

But yes it's true... especially Mammoths which are even MORE similar to Elephants, than Dinos to birds. It's probably even already been done, we don't even know what's happening around the world, I mean just think of the WW2 period when they were cloning people and when Stalline mixed the DNA of humains with the ones from Gorillas (Or perhaps other monkeys) to obtain a stronger, half-humain, half-gorilla army. I'm sure you guys know the pictures of these people full of hairs, everywhere on their body, they can shave as often as they want, they'll always look like that. It's crazy, what humains are capable to do :/

Besides that, the JP trilogy is running every Friday on TV over here! Haven't seen it in ages :)

at first i thought u were smoking and/or snorting some strong shit but i googled to find an article & i found one. it only says that experiments took place even before ww2 began and that it was a major failure. and the article was recent too

http://www.ufodigest.com/supersoldier.html

any links to these pix of ppl full of hairs? i do know that there is a genetic disorder that does creates this that isn't due to lab experiments, so wondering if the pics are of the same ppl

and also jurassic park used frog dna to fill in the blanks w/ dino dna, which is funny since we now know that dinosaurs are more closely related to birds

Exactly, Jurassic Park, while having its foot in realism, is not "quite realistic." Besides the frog DNA thing, there were "facts" that were implemented for the sake of the movie (T-rex's eyesight). It's also scientifically outdated as we now know velociraptors had feathers and were much smaller etc. It was pretty interesting to read up on it since I loved the JP series as a kid.

Also about the mammoth, I read they plan to get a good sample of mammoth DNA, use it to impregnate an elephant and see what happens. Apparently the gestation period is 2 years so we'll have a bit of a wait even if they had a good sample ready to go now.

Haha! No it's real unfortunately. I'll try to find some pictures later today. But it was just one of many other experiments... I remember finding a site with all kinds of things like that, I'll see what I can do.

And Frog DNA? I must have missed something, I thought they got it from a Mosquito which had the blood from another dino millions of years ago and which was conservated somewhere? Or what do you mean? :/
