Unless you're able to get something sorted through a mate - casual labour or site work, for example - then yeah, you will almost certainly need one.

What kind of job are you looking to get? Just something part time, a few evenings a week?

How old are you? Try get a few shifts a week in a pub that's walking distance from home.

Yeah, you'll definitely need a CV then - especially if you're looking for full time.

I was just searching for my CV to send you as an example, but I haven't got it on this laptop. You can easily find examples online, and if you're still strug-bags (struggling) just go to an employment agency and they'll be able to help you out.

Good luck mate.

If the job has an online application from then the chances are you would be required to either attach a copy of your CV to the application form or produce a hard copy for the interview. If it's not a requirement then I would certainly suggest taking a copy of your CV to the interview. Even if they do not ask for it just having it there to offer is "brownie points" in the employers eyes, if they don't ask for the CV then offer to show it to them as this shows enthusiasm.

As for writing CV's. It can be quite a tricky thing but a lot of it is down to presentation. Before you start to make your CV be sure to check out sample CV's online and take down the basics of what is required i.e: education, training, work experience, personal information and so on.

If you do not have any work experience then try to fill out the CV with details of some of the things you have done that make you eligible for work. If you've done nothing but laze around and live a day to day in your bedsit for the last 12 months then you can re-phrase that to "I have been responsible for the upkeep of my own home for 12 months, duties included shopping, cleaning, washing clothes, organising finances and paying bills". This shows that you have a responsible, mature attitude and you can work by yourself and work to deadlines.

A key thing about CV's top take note of, which a lot of people don't realise, is that you need to make it stand out from the rest of the CV's on the managers desk. You could get two CV's side by side, one is 4 pages long and full of information and grades from a Uni Graduate and reads like an essay the other one is two pages long but is clear and concise. Chances are the manager wont have enough time to read the 4 page one and will send it packing but will be able to skip through the 2 page CV, get what they need and will shortlist the candidate. Not saying that all CV's should be short but CV's should NOT be long winded.

Everybody said how important a CV is, and they taught at school how to make one, what to write etc. I've never really needed one. Even the diploma that says how well i did at school, nobody even looked it o_O

My point isn't that you won't need a CV. Its that other things will probably make more of a difference then what you write there.
