I heard a rumour that trackitdown has been refusing labels, so they cant sell on the site...

Any truth to this? Just curious.

Trackitdown faq:

Q. I run a record label, can I sell my music on Trackitdown.net?

A. Please contact us with further information about your company and the music you release. Full details of who to contact can be found on the Contacts page of the website.

Q. I am an unsigned artist, can I sell my music on Trackitdown.net?

A. We only accept tracks from established artists / labels. If you really think you have something special to offer please contact our Label Managers with full details about your music.

Obviously they reserve the right to refuse whoever they want.

well compare imodownload, trackitdown and junodownload and you will notice the difference.

There's barely any newbie labels on tid or jd... except for dj burn's stuff.

To be honest I think they should make a "white label" Label for people who haven't been signed by a proper label, instead of doing what IMOdownload does, allow people to make their own labels

I quite like the White Label idea but you would still need some kind of quality control over it otherwise it would end up like IMO.

Yeah Trackitdown can, rightfully, refuse any labels.

Personally I think its a good thing as when you accept everyone, you end up like IMOdownload, whose sales have plummetted this last 12 months and alot of people and labels are starting to abandon it.

Trackitdown are not the only site that refuse people. Hard Beats Download also do it, they refused NSR about 6 months ago. I would also think Juno can refuse people as they require you to sign contracts etc. The ONLY site I know that just lets anyone add a 'label' is IMOdownload.

my guess is that many of these sites, especially HBD, refuses labels b/c of a lack of a steady schedule, stability and/or content coming in. i personally agree to this, as there's a ton of labels out there that have only released a handful of tracks, and then die after a year or less

i'm definitely for quality control, as i loathe going to IMO myself

Hopefuly. It's about time there was some quality control.

They don't even need to reserve it. It's their site and they don't owe anyone anything.

A better idea would just be to allow labels based on how good the music sounds regardless of who it is. Although this probably requires a lot more effort than they are willing to put in.

Not a problem if they sound good. And...why else would they be releasing material?
