It doesn't matter what you tell people out of the scene because they wont know what you're talking about anyway.
Yeah exactly the same. I just say electronic music though because it really makes no difference what i say, and i just want to get the question over with lol. If they listen to anything electronic then they will ask further.

haha u know that is true. the best and easiest answer to give, as anything more specific than that will get a confused and bewildered look, and then more questions and you'll end up explaining the whole differences and shit like that to someone who in 5 mins won't even remember any of it b/c they really don't give that much shit about electronic music

There's some pretty happy tracks coming out today. Hardcore Techno refers to a genre of Techno...not Hardcore (I don't even think there is a Hardcore style of Techno...I know there is a Hard Techno style.) It would make more sense if you were to say "Techno Hardcore", because you're at least implying the style of Hardcore you are listening to is electronic, not people playing in a band. I still call today's stuff "Happy Hardcore", and if people ask what I listen to, I say "Happy Hardcore", or "Electronic Hardcore".

and revs your post is just fail on so many levels. so what if that's what it says on wikipedia? they require a source to quote what you're writing, but they don't really require a legitimate source for most of their things
Hardcore techno is gabber and had absolutely nothing to do with HHC/UK hardcore

And when Gabba producers in Netherlands and Germany replaced the darker melodies with happy tunes, HHC was born.
I understood that the U. K. came to HHC by the developements of old UK Hardcore/Jungle.

from what i've learned hhc was breakbeat influenced originally but due to the popularity of the harder style in scotland and europe producers in england started using less breakbeats in their tracks n went with a style similar to what the rest were doing except happier but if u listen to tracks produced towards the end of the 90's it's kinda like whats happening nowadays a lot of the tracks sounded the same...then it died n had to go underground...thats what i think...i could be wrong

I dunno if I've even posted in this thread, they always seem to crop up. Everyone is different but here's my personal gauge of hardcore:
92-95: hardcore (breakbeat kinda stuff; mike slammer, early demo, slipmatt, SL2 etc.)
96-2002: happy hardcore (vocals, happy melodies, cheese cheese cheese)
2003: hardcore was too dead to generalise I think lol
2004-2008ish?: "UK Hardcore" (uplifting vocals, trancy synths etc. think darren styles, Dougal and Gammer, clubland x-treme 1-4)
2008-present: "Upfront Hardcore" (Harder, darker, hard dance influenced stuff, minimal drops, hefty kicks, "electrocore" stuff
This isn't me presenting the facts, this is just how I gauge it in my mind. Styles have crossed over the different dates and times mentioned (like I'm sure there was some real supercheese in 95 and I bet there were trancey synths before 2004).
