Would it be beneficial to build up the hardcore genre on wikipedia a bit? atm, theres very little info on there about the genre and its members.

I tried to once - even followed guidelines to the T - but it didn't last long. Two deletionists had picked my changes (as well as a few others') all apart and reverted/removed them all in about a week. Judging by another look at the article, hardly anything has changed since; it's still a mess. Heck, it looks like most of the subgenre articles are crappy as well.
Others are welcome to give it a shot if they want.
Edit: I can certainly say the Notable Artists sections have grown in length. The problem is though is that these sections are pointless and should be interspersed throughout the main portion of the article (like Trivia sections). Most of them don't even link to an appropriate article anyway (I doubt Stormtrooper was in the German army, and Hamilton is not a pig thigh).

There's to many lesser known artists on that list.
I'm, sorry, but I think that page would be way to much cluttered if you add to many smaller ones. I'm editing that page now and removing anyone who hasn't had a notable release (vinyl/cd) on any bigger label.
I also removed those who are linked wrong or are red. Someone should make thos pages before linking them...

silver has said before that the page cant be modified without source. If he made an article on this site, linked to it as source, then it would probably be OK :P

i believe from reading past threads that sources have been posted, but they were deleted anyways.
and just checked the notable producers and how the hell some of these 1-hit wonders and ppl who have been part of the scene for a few years and how producers like Ham & Brisk who have over a decade of producing is ridiculous. Re-Con hasn't revolutionized a damn thing

You can integrate a mediawiki into your site and build it from there. It would require a log in to be edited and you can import the existing user database into the mediawiki user DBthus making it more secure and much less likely to be messed around. Shouldn't be that hard.

The problems are the deletionists, page guardians, those with bad faith, and worst (who usually fall into any of the previous descriptors), those who interpret policy to their own liking - creating walls and walls of text on the editor's talk page - to put filibusters on attempted edits. I say worst because it takes a while for it to actually qualify as "gaming the system" in most mod's/admin's eyes and takes up a shitload of time; it almost always causes those on the receiving end of it to throw in the towel in frustration.

It would be a very nice addition to this site if you ask me. It's just a matter whether or not Silver thinks the same and is willing to implement it...

Just dragging this thread up, I've started on the idea of integrating a hardcore wiki into an existing site. It's secure and all content can be moderated. When it's got content it should be an amazing source of knowledge for the scene.

Awesome! Give me a shout if you need a hand coding it as I'd be more than willing

If all else fails, how about broadening this?

pfffft nevermind broadening, it needs finishing! lol
if i get some time on my hands, we'll finish it so that it works properly, and then have an "advanced" button, then everyone can go to town pigeonholing! lol
mortis has a good idea, and the means to implement it! :)

My point precisely.
Have you given any thought to adding some sort of wiki to this site?
