did anyone hear what happened at the grand national two horse died after fallin at one of the hurdles just saw it on the news really sad hate to see things like that not a big fan of horse racing (i prefer motor racing) but will sometimes put a bet on if i'm feelin & lucky now animal rights activists want the grand national to be banned

they were put down after they suffered broken legs i think. news emerged 30 mins after the match on the live text on BBC. bit of a shame, but the controvertial sport goes on. my ****ing horse fell at the first hurdle didnt it...

I agree, it is a shame to see but I suppose that sort of things been going on for ages now. Mabey they should consider lowering the gates a bit so that the consequences aren't as harsh for miss timed jumps.
That was the first time i'd ever put bet on a horse race because my gf & her mum are right into it & I must say I enjoyed it but think i'll stick to football lol My horse 'Majestic Concorde' was in the top 3 for about 20 fences then the dumbass fell off!

Yeah, not very pleasant stuff.
Not that this makes it okay or anything, but I thought this kind of thing was pretty common in horse racing?
Happens in dog racing as well, doesn't it?

Animal rights activists jump on this because its the big event.
2 horses died. Does anyone know how many died in the Scottish National???....
Also 2. Yet that hasnt been all over the news. No one cares cause it isnt the BIG event.
On a side note...I couldnt pick between Ballabriggs and Oscar Time, so I ended up backing them both to win and they came 1st and 2nd :p

It's a shame this happens, it really is. Not as shameful as rodeos in their treatment of horses but that's something else entirely.

They wont ban grand national as that would be hypocritical because of other daily races that occur in the world of horse racing.
The whip should be banned.

yeah BBC referred to the horses as 'obstacles' in the way of the riders that why they had to miss out 2 jumps. How insensitive they are horses, animals not obstacles fgs!
