I just seen Kev announce this on his facebook so thought i'd share it with anyone who may have missed it.
I'm absolutely gutted to see this as the NEC was a major reason for my continuing love for the scene so to see it all finally come to an end is very sad indeed. Combine that with Sharkey also calling it a day a few months back, it's not a great year for Hardcore.
You can read his reasons for the farewell here...
http://www.nuenergycollective.com/kevinenergynews/kev_final.html Let's just hope we see him again in the not to distant future...

After the shitty emails i got from him accusing me of sharing Hardcore energy 2 on file sharing networks i have never used, F**K him. It's a shame that we'll be losing a good producer who pumps out alot more quality tracks than most but basically going around accusing people of file sharing isn't going to help. He's made his own bed and i hope he's happy.

Not a bad producer, who else has fallen by the wayside in my absence?

Cracking producer if you take all of the great music he has created over the last few years which makes it a shame that he's leaving. I actually went through my 2010 itunes playlist today and it's amazing the number of tracks on that list he's had a hand in.
I was harsh with my earlier comment and i shouldn't have said that.

I'm really going to miss Kev. He's worked really hard for the scene and has definitely been one of "the good guys" in times when there probably aren't that many left. Freeformation was without doubt the best rave I've been to in recent years (with the exception of the Weekenders) and I can't wait to see it off in style
Ever tried sending a promo track out "top tier" DJ's? How many replies did you get? Not many I'll bet. But Kev always took time to respond and give feedback, whether he liked the track or not.
Really looking forward to having him up to play his last gig in Leeds at our first Stomp! event on Friday July 1st!

this is terrible : (
he was one of the best and one of my favourites, I thought his recent stuff has been amazing and I was really looking forward to more ;_;
I've especially been digging "Paranoid" off the Veti Levu EP, first time I heard it I thought "I really hope this is where hardcore is heading"
oh well : (, no amount of unhappy emoticons can ever show how I feel about this
:(

Seduction - Gone
Sharkey - Gone
Nu Foundation - RIP
Kev Energy - Gone
Who's next?
Hopefully Kevin will just take a break a return in a year or 2. Spoke to him quite a bit & definitely one of the nicest people in the scene.

Nu Foundation - RIP
Kev Energy - Gone
Reese - Gone
Kev Willow - Gone
Starstruck - Gone
Lumin8 - Gone
Cheever - Gone
VAGABOND - Returned
Added.
Also isn't another label on an undetermined hiatus? NSR?
Definitely not a good year for Hardcore. Beginning of January things were looking up.

I wouldn't put lumin8, cheever & kev willow on the level as the rest of them as they didn't make a huge impact on the scene
starstruck brought us AWF and even though hardcore breakbeat/dnb has been around long before reese, he did help shed some light on the genre and influenced others to it as well
but also Orbit1 & Stormtrooper can be added on there. I would say Impact as well, but I see him on this years WEMF lineup. So I guess he isn't really leaving.

I think as long as they were here and produced songs more than ten people liked (Rivers Flow In Me brooooooo) they can be on the list of Hardcore Now-Past. :/ I also wasn't judging them by their impact on the scene.
But your preference if you wanna exclude people from the list.

Stormtrooper is doing a b2b set with robbie long at the last freeformation so hopefully we might see a return?
