I always thought eBay was mainly for dodgy people selling shite in poor condition. I've also always hated for not knowing what the total price is when i try to decide whether i want something or not.
But i recently discovered many actually sell new stuff too, with no bidding. Found 2 great sellers. One for Korean DVDs and one for Korean CDs. I used to buy Korean stuff form Hong Kong as imports (Yesasia). Its amazing i can actually buy out of print stuff that cant be found on any Internet retailers stock and straight from Korea.
I've used about 100e/month on "entertainment" this year (thanks to getting many extra projects). When i discovered eBay i had already used that part of my budget, i still shelled another 100e.
I'm addicted, so heres a tune (one of my purchases <3):

Strange. Ebay is none of those things. Everyone uses it. What do you mean about total price though? There is the cost of the item plus postage, both of which are displayed.

Suppose i used to see many stories of dodgy sellers, but most people wouldn't write about a seller that was good. Also I meant the bidding thing. I like the product to have a price tag, rather then bid for it.

there are people selling shit on there, but the majority is usually in good nick you have to know what to watch out for - my biggest complaint is morons overcharging for post and packaging
I dont care what shitty reasons they give, boxes can be found FREE of charge at any local supermarket or hardware store.

The ones i used display the postage. Pretty standard was 6$, which is less then sending a package to my neighbor. Postal costs are insane here. What type of amounts are you talking about?

what Triquatra means is some ppl buy a box to put the item in for shipping, but you don't really need to buy a box when you can go in a store and ask them if they have any that they are going to throw away.
I work in a department stores and when they have new inventory come in, they break down the boxes and trash them. although I think they send them for recycling, but I can't be too sure. But us as employees we go back there and get some of these boxes to use them for things like moving and such.
It's generally assumed that most ppl (including me) will charge a little more for shipping to get a little bit more profit out of it. I mean it makes sense sometimes, especially for the sellers who have to ship 0.01 or 0.99 cent auctions.

This. Also, quite a few sellers will put a stupidly low total buying price to get on the top of the list but then charge up to $40 in postage. But I thought ebay now let you order them in total cost (purchase plus shipping)

What are the selling charges like for ROTW now? Ebay UK now charge 10% for everything you sell (not inc paypal) up to 400, its not worth bothering anymore unless you overcharge! (then nobody buys)

what's ROTW?
also, does ebay take their percentage profit excluding shipping still? i haven't sold anything in almost 2 yrs and i remember they only took profit on the amt the item sold at, and that's why most ppl charged a little more for shipping.
