OK, i admit i really didn't want to make yet another topic about a Korean girl group in such a short time span. But i just couldn't help myself, because of two things. To poke certain member for saying this type of music isn't that popular in the world. And to show the difference between European and Asian pop music.
So, f(x)'s new video was posted two days ago:
At first i disliked it, after a few listens its really starting to sound good (apart from the chorus).
In two days its got over 750 000 views and is most popular in those countries:
Its a cover of a German tune by Monrose:
I think the original is good too. But its kinda funny how different tone the same song can have.

Which makes it popular in every country that has access to it? Heres a UK hardcore track with about the same amount of views: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mefsL9-nP9c For comparison.

This was obviously made by the German groups producers. But generally i've seen loads of different producers from around the world. Its the same for all pop music really. In Finland theres like 3 producers that write all the finnish pop songs. Edit: heres a scan from one singles credits list, all the other i have are pretty much the same. I have no idea who made what TBH.

Actually they have some minimum hits before they show the statistics. Don't know how much though.

I dont think theres much comparison really between the two. One track has trended by chance in the UK, while the other has had worldwide exposure and promotion across general forums. Its pop, and not only that, its k-pop and everyone somehow loves that.
I see what point you're trying to make, but theres such a stark difference between the two videos, you cant compare them.

Sorry, i remain unconvinced! Nothing of interest there to me, and i AM a fan of dance/pop music when done right - whatever the language. One positive note about the video though - was that a Veilside RX-7 i saw in the background? Couldn't make it out properly on my small screen (and of course the massive pink tank was a slight distraction)!

Out of curiosity what type of non-english dance/pop music you like?

Allsorts!
I find stuff like Caramell horribly addictive. I also spend too much time listening to Eurobeat and finding horrible songs from Japanese videogames!
To be honest, it's the utter cheesiness and throwaway nature of the music i like, could happily never listen to a foreign or badly sung English vocal again!
