I simply think the big majority prefers female vocals, because most of the listeners are male (and of course the DJs and prducers are as well).
I think it might be interesting what the ladies opinions are regarding this topic.

I have no problem with the idea either. I just think they rarely suit electronic music; honestly no idea why! It's just how it sounds to me.

But do almost all vocals need to be pitched up?
That's one of the main characteristics of Happy Hardcore music! The Dutch & Germans used chipmunky vocals, along with the UK, and Happy Hardcore music generally has been produced around 160-170 bpm, and played in the high 170s-180s. That's just what it is and I think that should remain one of the core characteristics of Hardcore music (at least keep the production speed at 170 bpm, I don't think hardly any producers make at 160s much anymore.)

Didn't you do a topic on this already?
personally I have no problem with them so long as it suits the track well and imo most of them do. But yes there are songs out there with terrible male vocals, but there's just about as much female vocals in hardcore that sound terrible or offbeat.
and yes Samination you're gay, but not because you like pretty green eyes

I don't know...maybe...but how many other people on here wind up cycling back around to a previous topic or argument? Just think of this as a current opinion thread then.

I think a lot of producers prefer female vocals too, they're a little higher in pitch so they fit better in the mixdown. Or something.
Ant Johnson.

I prefer female vocals, even though some tunes with male vocals are amazing, "See You On the Other Side" by Cube::Hard and CLSM is such an example.

Yes, and it has been one of the principal points of criticism by outsiders as well. I know, you shouldn't give a shit about their opinion, but tmo isolation always has ended very badly in history. I know Dean and others have posted regulary, when it came to discussions regarding Electro and Dubstep influences in Hardcore. I mean I dislike these influences, but actually they are right, when they tell us not to reject any new elements.
Don't get me wrong! I really like pitched up vocals, but mostly everyone is doing it, which kind of ruins the variety.
I apprehand, that it is difficult for people to sing a Hardcore track. Blumchen mentioned once, that recording "Herz An Herz" almost failed, because she wasn't able to sing that high.

Actually I was more reffering to happy and uplifting electronic music, where a lot of vocals contain love stories and subtle hints of screwing (where I prefer female vocals ).

I'm in the 'don't mind male but prefer female' camp. Nothing against male vocals at all (most of my favourite bands have male singers) but they don't work anywhere near as well for me in dance music - whether that's Hardcore or any other dance genre. As i see it, for every brilliant male vocal there are at least 5 awful ones! For females that's more like the reverse. Saying that though, the likes of Ant Johnson, Stefan Booth, even Mike Di Scala have made a lot of tunes what they are with their vocals so it can be good.
