i went to listen to a few of my older tunes n wmp wouldnt play them...ok bit annoyed i go into a playlist to listen to any old tune wmp wouldnt play them now im really confused how can i listen to music then 30 minits l8r i cnt listen to ANY n i mean every single mp3 and wav file i have i even tried realplayer and it wont work either any1 have any idea what could be wrong??

there might be some software hogging your soundcard drivers, have you tried a restart?
that will help free up everything that could be using them
are there any error messages and does the progress bar still move - as in, is the mp3 playing but there is no sound
first off i would try a restart - if that doesnt work check your soundcard drivers

i'm in the process of doin a system recovery coz that fixed a lot of problems with fl if that doesnt work my uncle told me to move everything to an external hdd wud they play on another pc? I shud b able to get the laptop fixed coz its pretty banged up from all the shite that went on when i was away but the reciept is in glasgow at my sisters but she is in brighton til monday n i cnt function without music...oh and an message would come up saying wmp could not play the file it may have been moved or deleted the wierd thing is there is no track length its blank on every track in the playlist and in all my albums that are not in my playlist

Yep I'd start with restarting system > Reinstall Soundcard driver > Reinstall WMP. Are you still hearing system sounds? Can you get audio on youtube etc.? Have you run a virus check since your house takeover? What soundcard is it, are you using onboard or an external one?

now i think its ****d it finished the system restore restarted n now all i have is a blue screen n a constant buzz i'm goin nuts i hope i havnt lost all my music n samples etc i have my uncle coming dwn he shud know what to do...life cnt get any better...no tv n nw no music i'm jst glad i kept all the old vinyls my m8 gave me coz sum of em r rare as ****...wud it be a good idea to buy an external soundcard?

looks to me like u got a malware (viruses and stuff). Thats why system recovery probably didnt work. And they can also fck up some Windows applications like WMP and IE. Malware thingy is fcked up cuz, eventhough chances of infection r low, u can accidentally get them even on the safest sites, and if they progress then they're very hard 2 remove. However, it might be something else but malware.
Try re-installing your Windows (or any OS u used), without formatting. It will not remove the malware (or any other problem u had before System Recovery) but your PC should be usable enough for you to put what u want on an external hard drive. Just make sure the drive doesn't get infected.
EDIT: Sorry, I was writing, I didn't know you've already fixed it.

well it's completly ****d now anyway i moved all my vids n tunes onto my external hdd n thank god i did coz 5 miniutes after i done that it turned off and on a few times then eventually restarted but wudn't go past the welcome message thing so after 5 hours with no change i lost my temper n threw it at the wall which obv means no more laptop
so now i'm needing a new computer i'm goin to currys today and i'm wondering can i buy a decent desktop that will go through my hd tv i jst spent 800 on that so that leaves me 500 for a computer and i wnt to try out a desktop coz i'm gettin sick of using laptops nw as none have lasted more than 2 years n my uncle has got a desktop that he's had from 1993 so thats making me want a desktop even more coz his is amazin he's always customizing it and it's amazing for playin games etc...so any advice wud help a shitload as i'm kinda shit at buyin stuff lol (i jst go with what the salesman says n my uncle says i shudnt so i thot i wud ask u guys lol)
