You are right, all commercialised stuff does sound the same. It's all equally terrible. However i was referring specificaly to underground stuff that people commonly say all sounds the same; Techno for example.

Why this is the most sensical post you have ever typed. This is pretty much what gets said by me to anyone who is narrow minded enough to say it all sounds the same (for any given type of music). I mean really how hard is it for them to see that they just don't like it, lol.

I can understand why some people think all techno sounds the same, they're obviously deaf.
How can a genre with generally little melody have such intense energy? Witchcraft!
Just kidding, it's all about the percussion, which is where techno excels. I'd say strictly for dancing, techno is the best dance genre there is, because it doesn't distract you with catchy riffs ;p

Yeah I agree, I also listen to Basically anything that is progressive when I have to work/write something, can be progressive house, techno or liquid drum and bass, but nothing with vocals or you'll end up writing down the lyrics :P

I agree (although i don't think it's the best, there is other stuff as good although not better), melody based music is pretty useless at raves, by comparison at least.

I think people are on to something. Minimal drops are amazing if done well (just like anything) just compare Henry Blank - Good Time (Squad_E & Klubfiller remix) and Daruso - Since You Been Gone (Klubfiller Hardcore Mix). The former is probably what people are complaining about, but I loved the drop in the latter. Since You Been Gone Good Time
Here's why I think the second link just loses energy after the drop while the first link is actually full of energy: Pitch range. After the drop "Since You Been Gone" has the entire pitch range represented while "Good Time" only emphasizes on the bass with the vocal stabs too far apart, making it sound like how you'd open a track rather than progress it.
Also, Techno is the true "trance" music. They should switch names considering when 98% of the population says "Techno" they're actually referring to Trance (or worse EuroTrance/EuroBeat).
EDIT: Actually I don't know what a minimal drop is... Never had it defined and the best I can describe it is that bassy, square-y, straight from electro bassline.
EDIT2: Now that I think about it, Since You Been Gone is not a minimal drop. Sorry everyone I look like an idiot.

What? Goa has melodies overlaying melodies overlaying melodies and it's perfect rave music and probably the last remaining true form of rave music nowadays when you consider that unlike every other form of electronic music around nowadays it never made the switch to clubs. In fact the music itself is mastered, mixed down and even produced from the ground up with an outdoor environment in mind.
Really though, perfect 'rave music' is just whatever people like, raves only started because house music was underground and the door policies of 80s clubs were ridiculous. If minimal drops worked so well at raves we wouldn't have such a divided opinion on them now. Just sayin'

UMM But did'nt Hardcore copy the Trance scene back in the 2000's with their sound. Which was the trend back then. How is now any different lol? Hardcore has'nt been original with sounds since the 90's. I'm sure there are plenty of new buyers of hardcore that love the underground influences in UK Hardcore:):)
Too me that sounds great, get with the times people!!! The crowd sound like they are loving it. The funk edge in bassline sounds awesome too. A lot more orginal than all the Trance Hardcore that were mostly remixes.
I don't know why your all complaining. A lot of djs are still keeping the the Trance sound with vocals anyway. Just listen to all Brisks latest sets. Not a dubstep or electro in sight.
