Does anyone else find that these headphones are a waste of money?
I mean, I've compared them to my Pioneer headphones and they sound exactly alike, I got mine for around 115-130$, and the cheapest pair of dres are what, 250$?
Everytime i see someone with those headphones on, Im pretty sure they don't care about the quality, they buy it just for the name "Dre".

That's exactly it, the name is as important as the quality. I tried a couple of pairs around the 180-200 mark and they were no better than my old 50 Sony ones.

My Nan is getting me a pair of the in-ear ones for Christmas, I haven't heard anything good about them, but I didn't want to seem ungrateful. I need a new pair of earphones anyway my other ones broke a few days ago. I did plan on picking up a pair Sennheiser IE8's. I still might depending on how good/bad the Dre ones are, I'll just wait until Christmas.

see lots of kids walking home from the bus stop in my neighborhood with these. I'll stick with brands that have the same specs and cost a $100 less =P
am curious to see what they do on HTC phones...

what's funny is mostly ghetto ppl buy them, yet they dress like shit. if you're going to waste about 300 for headphones, you better look like you didn't just spend your rent check just to get them.

They're WAY overpriced and in no way could these be any good for production (as advertised).

I've heard they are atrocious as well.
Apparantly they amplify lower wavelength frequencies, which makes them pretty much useless for production.

I think you would be surprised to find just how many edm producers produce with bass heavy headphones.

Honestly... I think experiencing that would be well worth the money, however I doubt it's quite like he said :P

had a very quick listen to some today. Despite being headphones, it's not completely dissimilar. I wouldn't buy them though. For a similar price point, check out denon D2000? I think it is.

What about when they are sorting out a mixdown etc. wouldn't they just screw up the levels?

$250 on headphones? Lol.
I'm pretty much totally deaf in my right ear and therefore spend my days walking around in circles, But even if I had full hearing I still would not pay that much for headphones! That's shocking.
Glad I've got a tiny bit of Jewish blood in me, to stop me following the crowd and making stupid ****ing purchases like this...

Yes. The hardcore genre as a whole is mixed quite badly. Obviously the top tier are the most acceptable. But they don't mix in headphones. Once you get to the amateur or semi professional level on the whole the mixing is pretty ****ing horrible.
I can name q certain few that have a following despite their abysmal mixing skills.
