Found this article while procrastinating instead of doing ap art history homework. Amazes me how people get so pissed off with a little noise, they even complain about the Notting Hill Carnival.

I swear it was only the other day I posted about how I'd love to go to a warehouse rave, are they definately going through with it? I read it will be passed in April but whether or not it happens I couldn't see.

That whole article is just one long piece of scaremongering!

hehe
"Keep Calm and Rave On"
Karthy - its a consultation, at the end of the consultation it will likely be put to the commons as a bill, and where they'll vote on wheter to pass it or not.
its a relatively small issue so I doubt too many will oppose it. I would say its likely it will be passed - there are still plenty of other red-tape issues that police can use to try and shut down illegal raves (which they left out of the article..wouldnt make such good headlines else!). This just frees up having to apply and pay for a license - someone could still complain about noise and have events shut down if they exceed noise levels under the "Noise Act 1996"

Of course, but if it's in the middle of nowhere who's to complain? And besides, it would allow alot of other events to be hosted without the bother of applying for anything (a school bingo event for example)
Also, of course there's still issues they can use to shut down illegal raves (they wouldn't be illegal otherwise), I bet they'll be a tad more common though.

I once had a dream that I owned a canel boat - and i was all dresed up in tweed, with a flatcap, and I was shouting at some people whilst standing on it and holding a large stick "GET ORF MOI BARGE!"
odd, but Dean just reminded me of it

It will change nothing unfortunately, they can still shut down a rave under Section 63 of the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 or using a number of different laws that have been added since then.
If you want to attend a warehouse rave this shouldn't stop you though, they still go on up and down the country every weekend. ;) Just bare in mind police will turn up at a lot of them and don't expect any UK/Happy Hardcore.

Ministers are consulting on plans to free any event with an attendance of less than 5,000 people from needing a license. They hope this will make it easier for local communities to hold fetes and street parties.
Just goes to show how much people actually know as u don't need a licence to actually have a set amount of people... The set attendance is written into the licence... The licence will still be needed anyway... Even with a T.E.N (temporary event notice) which atm allows an attendance of 499 people

Yeah I saw this as well. Trouble is, the UK is a pretty small island and it's only gotten more and more built up, if you hold a reasonably large party anywhere people will hear it.
If you want a warehouse rave then check out Earthquake, they've been doing Acid House/Jungle/Old Skool multi-room warehouse and field parties (depending on the season/weather) since the late 80s and they're all totally-legit-questionably-legal parties dotted in various locations around the M25. You do need to be 'in on it' to know where the locations are though. Raindance do them as well but Raindance have gone legal, so if you want authentic...go earthquake. You'll need access to a car though as you'll be stopping off at service stations and asking some disguised organisers where to go next.
Most of the illegals where I live are drum n bass student parties, I used to live between two local universities right near massive plots of land where they would go down every summer after exams had finished, was cool to go there when I wasn't old enough to go to raves. Also the Spiral Tribe techno stuff still travels around the country with all the squatters and stuff and also there are often psytrance parties on the outskirts of london too, normally in the woods and stuff.
Anyway yeah, I hope this brings something good, it'd be nice to do some outdoor psy raving in summer.
