EDM gets mainstream recognition and the hardcore hipsters rage.

"EDM" (or "music" as we like to call it) has had mainstream recognition in the UK on and off for ages in varying genres so most of us aren't that impressed when we get told that *insert 1 trick pony here* is the greatest thing sinced sliced bread. No need to sound so condescending just because you like some of the artists in the list.

It's aimed at the people being condescending because they don't like some or all of the artists on the list ;p

Not a case of being condescending, I don't have a problem with any of those people on that list, I just think they're a bit crap to be considered the "best". Even mainstream names like Above and Beyond are far better than all on that list.

Neko is right. It's mostly a popularity contest. You can't really say which artists are the BEST.

In dante's defense, I really think he was aiming that more at those in america, who would generally complain that dance music doesn't get any recognition in the mainstream...but as soon as it does they start complaining - having ones cake and eating it and all that
anyone who doesnt feel they fit into that catergorie need not take any offense, as it wasn't aimed at them :)

It's not complaining when it's just over glorified pop music with some douche who cannot mix in the first place but nonetheless takes the name "DJ".

I don't take this list serious as this is considered the "best" by the standards of a US based mainstream "music" channel. Not ashamed to say that when it comes to the US as a whole we don't know shit about good EDM, as far as mainstream media is concerned. We're only starting to like dubstep when everyone else in the world is becoming tired of it already. but meh there's nothing that can be done about it, as it will always be that way here.
