When they EVO100 trailer was released earlier this year, it said at the end that all 4 volumes would be available on vinyl, but since then we've only had digital releases. I already picked up the MP3 versions, but I'm sure I'm not the only person here who would love to own a vinyl copy of these 4 releases. Does anyone here know if/when Scott Brown was planning to release these on vinyl, or is it just not happening anymore? Because if so that'd be a real shame.

the MP3s probably didn't sell good either, but did Scott Brown really expect them to sell?

honestly nothing from EVO100 was worthy of a vinyl release. imo it was a letdown compared to the hype it received and nothing about it was really groundbreaking.

I completely disagree. The release wasn't supposed to be "groundbreaking", nor do I even understand how a release can be groundbreaking, it was supposed to be remixes that HE enjoyed by friends of his. Plus, with it being the 100th release, no matter what he put on it, it wouldn't have lived up to the hype. Same thing with Detox (Dr. Dre). No matter how good that album turns out to be, because it's been hyped for 10 years people will say it sucks, or isn't "groundbreaking".

And how can you say none of those tunes are worthy of a vinyl release? The NITT ravebreaks remix, the live Turn Up The Music remix, All About Elysium; those EP's are full of epic tunes. (don't take this is a diss, just my opinion. i know i shouldn't have to state that because it should go without saying that anything anyone says is their opinion, but it's the internet, and people take some things waaay to seriously).

And @ Samination - I don't think anyone who releases vinyl anymore expects them to sell well, I think they just do it for their own pleasure of releasing songs on vinyl. I'd much rather pay, sy, 10$ for a vinyl release of two songs, than the 3$ it would be for an MP3 copy, purely to have a physical copy, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

I'm a Hardcore Vinyl fan also and would love to see a 12" release too. But I doubt it will happen. People don't even break even releasing records in Hardcore anymore. Would cost a fortune to release all those tracks on vinyl and then the risk of them maybe not selling.
Even Quosh, Twista, Raver Baby and Essential platinum seem to have gone totally digital.

I think plenty of oldskool happy hard vinyls will never find a digital release though, so best to hold onto those rare 12"s. Especially all the booleg releases.

Well I've always said it's only music :)

But with CDjays now, I'm amazed no one's trying to sell CD singles instead? Must be alot cheaper to sell an CD-maxi compared to a vinyl

I wouldn't buy CD singles myself. Clubs and raves are messy places. When I go out to DJ, some of my CDs get ruined - it's a very messy and random environment and, unless you're super-careful (which I'm not, nor do I want to be), damage happens. Even though I only use top-notch CDRs (Verbatim / TDK range) and very good burners, I sometimes have to re-burn stuff anyway. I can't imagine taking collectible CD singles and ruining them the same way I eat through CDRs. ;)

I've never treated vinyl as collectibles - only as DJ tools. As soon as digital releases gained enough momentum, I switched and never looked back.

Anyway, the difference: if you want to use vinyl, you have no choice but to take and use your collectibles. There's no easy/practical way to duplicate vinyl for playing out, and serato is hardly the same thing.

well if we start comparing vinyl vs cd/mp3-cd, CD's will obviously be more attractive, and easier to back up

True, but they don't have the unique "magic" that vinyls do. Plus, manufacturing pro-quality (glass masters, not just pretty printed CDRs) CD releases starts making sense at around 500 copies - way more than you could hope to sell in hardcore.

Eh? so your saying the likes of brisk, ham, hixxy, sy, unknown, scott brown and dougal e.t.c can't even sell 500 copies of a release?
