You shouldn't have removed it. All very true indeed.

I think with this line-up you would be getting a good cross section of the scene from these DJs rather than artist showcases. From Dain-Ja I would be looking to see 25-30 tracks that he has edited down and then mixed, 80 mins of non-stop awesomeness and then from Cotts & Ravine, a nice happy fun bouncy CD, like their Youtube mixes and HA CDs. Also, these guys mix live better than most of the current commercial albums & big names mix on a computer

Thanks for the mention :) I think anybody would love to mix a compilation at some point.

A few years ago, there was rumours of Luna-C being on Bonkers and it never panned out. I'm sure licensing issues from his mashup style had something to do with it. Would've been amazing though...

I've always loved mixes layered and packed with 30+ tunes. Keeps you on your toes (and it's especially good if the tracks are all wicked). Luna-C and Kutski are the masters of these kinds of mixes IMO. What I like about them is that they mash music from EVERYONE up. They don't just stick to music from their label or their own productions.

I try to do the same when I can - I find a whole set of one label or a few artists rather tedious to listen to. It's nice to see a bit of everything in a compilation, otherwise it's not much a compilation...

With that said:

Luna-C and Kutski (totally possible - they both gig internationally often enough that they could spend a week compiling a crazy mix). This would probably feature the best tunes from the underground and give the usual "clubland" heads something really interesting they might want to hear more of.

Hixxy & Darwin: Weird? Probably. Hixxy has an ear for what is really catchy and simple and Darwin has an ear for what is deep and complex. What happens when you put them together? Hard to say - could be really awesome though :P I'm picturing tunes like "Sora Blue" or "Outside world" (or 2003-2005 Hixxy stuff) with some more twisted influences from Darwin. Throw in a few anthems from the HU camp and RBC crew and you could have a pretty slamming mix. This might not be the most realistic coupling but I think it would be really interesting.

Styles & Prospect: Clubland wouldn't be clubland without Styles on board. Prospect is pushing the whole new dubsteppy hardcore sound and he's really talented. It's not for everyone, but Styles makes a lot of it now anyways, so you might as well pair them up.

I would like an album of 4 cds with:

cd1 Styles & Breeze
They can indulge in all the electro/tech/house influences they want. A lot of it is good too.

cd2 Hixxy & Re-con
Their CD on clubland this year is great, kudos if they can keep it up like that.

cd3 Technikore & Al Storm
the NRBC should be represented once and for all.

cd4 Essential Platinum meets Quosh Records ( Dougal, Gammer, Sy & Chris Unknown)
My two favorite duos. They never disappoint, and always put out beautiful anthems and great partycore.

Those are the names the ravers want to hear most, so let them have it. I would keep the constant line-up formula, but I think it does deserve a twist. You could say they even started this year by adding Re-Con to the 3rd cd, the first modification to the line-up in 8 volumes.

Yeah, but I wrote it while watching TV and didn't pay enough attention, then after posting I thought I better reword it. I copied what I had written and tried to delete the post, but couldn't, so I edited it with bleeuughh and posted that. Then I found out that my copying hadn't copied, and gave up lol.

I was asked to mix a Bonkers CD by Sharkey around the last few releases of that series. I initially said yes, but after thinking about it I decided not to do it. My reasoning was that I would have to really restrict how I play - making sure all the samples were cleared on a Supaset would be a nightmare. So I would end up with a set that didn't really sound like me. Those that wanted a Luna-C mix would have been disappointed, and those that heard me for the first time on Bonkers wouldn't really be hearing me but a diluted version.

So other than the money, there didn't seem a lot of point in doing it. And I make it a rule never to do anything just for money. You can do it for whatever other reason and the money, but not just the money - that way lies DOOOOMMMM!

It works! Why change it? Every time it comes out theres a select few that complain about it, but you never hear about the people that buy it and love it. I'm not particularly a fan of the new style, some of it is good some of it isn't. But it's smashing up dancfloors up and down the country. Honestly, go to a rave and see for yourselves!

That being said the only thing i would like to see is it maybe pushing more new talent. Not in the tracklisting but with the mixes. People buy it for DS, Breeze and Hixxy, so it'd be stupid to change them. Maybe have them B2B with upcoming producers and try to widen people's knowledge of the dj's in the scene?

Someone mentioned Styles and Prospect. This is the sort of thing i mean, I'm not really a fan of Prospect but he's clearly very talented.

Maybe Breeze and Petruccio and Modulate? Their tracks are on there enough and they are quality dj's!

Hixxy and MOB maybe? A CD of massive hands in the air tracks?

There's so many producers that could do with a bit more recognition and that'd be a great way to do it. Might even lead to more main room bookings at big events etc.

simple for me!

CD1 - Styles and Breeze - Hope they mix it up a bit more style wise but will sell albums!

CD2 - Joey Riot and Re-Con - Like the way these guys try different sounds and styles, both play allsorts and would work well together!

CD3 - Brisk and Darwin- more bpms and old skool meets new skool on this one, Brisk always delivers and Darwins a must have!

CD4 - Scott Brown and Hixxy - We need to here new SB stuff and I think Hixxy has really improved again in the last 2 years!

Want a bit of everything on the album apart from freeform! HU usually cover a bit and I'm not convinced the majority want it sales wise!

Sales wise even in Hardcore its pretty simple- Names sell better than music!

Were Hixxy and Sharkey truly the biggest names around the time of Bonkers 3?

Were Slipmatt & Bunter the biggest names when they did the Ministry album which remains the biggest selling "hardcore" comp of all time?

Not to disregard the need for names, as it is the safety blanket of those names that'll mean an outfit will invest properly in promoting it and the vendors stock and feature it.

When these threads emerge, it strikes me how wildly optimistic some people manage to be. Even if half these pairings sound good on (virtual) paper, you'd need to micromanage the crap out of them to get a decent result.

This all said, I appreciate it's a theoretical exercise and as such it's fair to presume ideal operating conditions. Just don't make the mistake of trying to implement them

or can it be that after a failure, no one dares to see what really fail. Who knows, maybe a 2nd or 3rd try would yield gold?

The majority of customers look at the names on the front cover, the smart ones look at the names on the back.

Sadly the names on the back are mainly just the names on the front cover anyway nowadays..... (apart from HU obviously)

honestly you can pretty much tell what's what in the existing compilations out there by front cover only, or even just the series itself. Only the new albums you'll have to really read the back, but there's not many new ones out there coming out either.

One of those quotes you could put in a Serif font, chuck a " either end and put it in italics and stick in a forum signature [:
