Hello. First, apologies for jumping right in and asking for information.

I was wondering if anyone here knows if there is any kind of hardcore scene in South Korea, in particular in Seoul?

I moved here (Seoul) about eight weeks ago and I've not managed to find anything, nor have I seen any evidence of there previously been any kind of hardcore scene here.

I haven't actually spoken to anyone here that even knows what hardcore is really. An American guy I met at a drum n bass night had heard of happy hardcore but that's about it.

I just discovered a load of videos from The Day of Hardcore in Tokyo. I do want to visit Japan at some point, but it seems like somewhat of a trip just to quench my hardcore thirst!

Their taekwondo shuffle is pretty hardcore.

Seriously though, the closest to HHC i've heard are some eurodance and parapara.

Woah, that was insane! That girl is an absolute badass. I would not want to offend her. Cheers, that video definitely softens the blow of what is seeming like a lost cause.

The quest continues. If only I could mix, then I could become the don of K-Core.

If I remember correctly, there is a club called 'M2' in Hongdae that specializes in electronic music so u could try checking out their events :)

Yeah, I've had a look at that place online and it seems to have a lot of house. I read a blog entry about it saying that someone there was playing a bit of old skool and that piano breakdowns were plentiful for an hour so so I may well check it out soon. I guess listening to some Korean DJs would actually aid my search a little bit.

Cheers for the heads up on M2, much appreciated. I'm actually off out in Hongdae as soon as I've had a shower, but alas I'm off to dubstep/drum n bass night. Zzzzzzzz. It's like being back in Leeds!!

You're from Japan? I have been listening to J-Core all day. I now want to move to Tokyo! Really hoping I can get time off when The Day of Hardcore 2012 is on. Doubtful, though.

Unfortunately I'm one of the little people that can't go to events yet :( I want to visit the UK sometime, considering most of the hardcore raves/events are there. As far as Korea having hardcore events, never heard of any.

Its always good when hardcore reaches different parts of the world. I wonder if any other South Koreans are fans of the music. Must be a few around :)

Update: Seoul World DJ Festival has Angerfist on their lineup for this May's festival. This is the closest I've come so far to finding hardcore. ATB, Angerfist and Josh Wink headlining the Saturday night. Weird lineup, but I will be clucking for any kind of hardcore by then so I'll be going along to watch Angerfist for sure.

Sounds like an interesting set-up. Have fun!

I think there so much more potential in Asia as it is still today. When I had been 5 months in Shanghai back in 2006/2007, I remember how young Chinese (mostly students) liked it, when I played some Eurodance and Happy Hardcore on my laptop in a train to Hangzhou. The eldery ones of course looked slighty irritated.

I'm sorry to say but there is no Hardcore in Korea, don't waste your time you'll never find it. Your best bet is reverting to cheesy K-pop boy bands.

Nah, I'm joking I'm sure with a hard search you'll come across some form of Hardcore that will lead you to more Hardcore. Good Luck dude, don't eat too much kimchi.

I feel you Lilark I just turned 16 like a week and half ago so I'm too young to hit up the local HHC raves, but it's not like my mom would let me go even if it was all ages. Hopefully when I'm in college I'll have enough money saved up to travel Europe and go to a bunch of different Hardcore raves and events.

Hello. I'm RMHN in korean hardcore label HYPERMESS recordings. I wonder if I can help you, but we feel necessity to explain our act & release.

http://soundcloud.com/hypermess-recordings/

As far as I know, we are ONE & ONLY hardcore label in south korea. :(
Most korean hardcore tunes are simmilar to japanese hardcore (J-Core) cause of country's position.
