Pitting these two legandary hardcore series together from both beginnings up until now... Which one do u prefer over the other? And why?

Here's a little story going back a few years now... Well probably over 10 lol

Flip n Fill used to do a radio show on Key 103 floorfillas or sumert like that... Anyway listeners could call in request tunes , have a ramble or whatever haha

Well I used to ring up almost ever week to request some hardcore... Most often than not Rick Jones (who is part if the who clubland thing) answered the phone and repeatidly would say hardcore is shit and doesn't sell lol

I kinda like to think I had a helping hand in getting aatw noticed with hardcore with my repeated phone calls. It who knows?

Anyway...

Early clublands where ****in amazingly good but as hardcore/chart music has changed over the years this kind of compilation has basically gone far beyond my style of hard music

Hardcore underground wins over all for me - the consistant of music is amazingly good, we have big names aswel as new fresh talent...

As I type this I've got HU5 blasting out my Xbox - the tunes of 2012 that resemble the happy hardcore sound of the 90s but more modern and of better quality is ****in amazing....

The future of hardcore is all within hardcore underground 5

HU5

Ive always liked versatility and diverseness in Hardcore HU5 is perfect for that. It was the ever-present heads, but also up-coming stars in abundance. Having 30 odd artists on each album I think is very healthy for an album to do for the entire genre.

In addition Ive liked HU's liberty. DJ's can do what they want. No restrictions, no pressures to regurgitate its labels old franchise.

And HU covers more mainstream, less mainstream, freeform, breaks, gabber - the lot!

Clubland plays things a little more safely. It rarely varies its artists - so you have DS Breeze and Hixxy each year. Great if you like those DJ's. The genres across the 3 CDs are similar each year. The label has a lot of influence, however. Cascada, Scooter, Flip & Fill, even Discoland have all been recycled by the album series. Its engineered to make money. Great if you like the styles of music most popular at the given time!

Generally why I prefer HU is down to its more contributory ethics. It provides opportunities for people, helping the genre, as well as unleashing amazing new music. Nevertheless, both albums harbour good producers and fantastic music. HU suits my tastes more in the fact I like discovering music, and hearing styles and songs Ive not heard before from unknown people.

To balance my opinion though, and not sway the minds of others, Clubland is assured to give you consistently good music if you are into the type of music they produce there. Most tracks will be completely new, and will only have been played at events prior to the album - so the sense of fresh and new is all there.

But HU is cheaper!

Ive TRIED making that post as balanced as possible.

Hardcore underground by far! I have enjoyed the clubland series immensly with exception of the last one (much like Hardcore underground) But HU has been far more consistent over the years with a lot more quality.

I prefer the Clubland xtreme series (except 8) cuz it has had way more uplifting trancy vocal hardcore tracks which I like.

Hardcore underground doesn't provide enough cheesy stuff imo :p

tbh, if it was HU vs CLXH vs Singles, I'd taken the last one 100%. Artists should be paided for their songs, not because their on a huge album.

Both CDs have their merits. Is very hard to choose. I must admit I thought Brisk Fracus and Darwins mix on hardcore Underground 5 is amazing. Love the Breaks Beat at the start, then the build up to UK Hardcore and finishing off with Gabber. Also Slipmatt and Entity did an amazing mix too.

Then when you listen Clubland Extreme Hardcore, I hav'nt stopped listening to Hixxy and Recons disc on there. I really love their sound, is a very new sound and still uplifting. Styles mix was rockin too and Breezes. A lot of people seem unhappy with their sound but I still prefer it to freeform.

Maybe we should put Hardcore Heaven Summer edition in the choice too.
My 3 favourite Hardcore series would have to be

HARDCORE HEAVENS
HARDCORE UNDERGROUNDS
CLUBLAND EXTREME HARDCORE

They seem to be by far the most consistantly good DJ mixed Hardcore Compilations going at the moment. Actually they are the 3 I will always buy.

some of y'all are a bit confused. It's not HU5 vs CXH8 it's

Hardcore Underground Vol. 1 thru 5 VS Clubland X-Treme Hardcore Vol. 1 thru 8

For me HU series hands down. Although CXH started out strong, it just became weaker and weaker as the series progressed. HU gives voice to those djs & producers that are lesser known, as well as gives us the full range of variety of hardcore, as shown in HU5 with the inclusion of Al Storm & Technikore showcasing the more mainstream sounds. Also, HU5 has not lost its edge, nor its original purpose of showcasing a variety of talent that put a lot of dedication into what they produce.

CXH only showcases the more mainstream sound as well as a select few djs. Not a lot of variety. Although I have nothing against electro/dubcore, I do enjoy variety in my mixes.

Overall? Clubland by far. I know that's not a fashionable stance to take, but the quality and sheer volume of slammer over the series blows HU out of the water for me, even if the style is more narrow.

I always used to look to Clubland for my cheesy, throwaway fun, fully knowing what to expect - while alsn knowing that i'd be able to get my fix of 'proper' Hardcore elsewhere.

The demise of Bonkers left a gap that needed to be filled, and HU does that and more. I don't know how the sales figures compare but i do know that in terms of overall quality and variety they don't compare.

I think it's worth comparing audiences too. Your typical raver is a lot more interested in Raverbaby and Darren Styles etc than they are in Darwin and HU, BUT, those that appreciate albums like Hardcore Underground have a more open mind when it comes to listening to more varied stuff. That's why i ignore the opinion of anyone on Facebook with anything like 'HTID' or 'Raver' in their name on Facebook!

Best way for me to describe how compare the 2 - I can put my hands on my HU CD's anytime i want, i own 4 or 5 of the 8 CXH albums and know where 2 of them are.

So yes, HU for me. No doubting that CXH had it's moments, but over the whole series it doesn't come close.

I don't know why some people keep looking back on the old Hardcore Clublands. And want the new ones to sound exactly the same. To me that would be plain boring if Darren Styles, Mark Breeze, Recon and Hixxy kept making the same stuff as 5 years ago.
As much as I love tracks like 24 7, Heartbeats and Getting Better, fresh approaches are always needed in music.
The latest clubland extreme hardcore is one of their best. I respect producers that try new things instead of churning out the same old tunes and then end up like Scott Brown making next to no music because they've run out of fresh ideas.
