I've noticed alot of download sites charging the same amount for a download as the actual cd release. To me this defeats logic. At least with the CD release you get the whole hard copy recording with sleeve in your hand that you can put on your mp3 player anyway. Also there are so many free promotional dj mixe about so alot of people I know will never pay for them.
SO WHAT I"M TRYING TO SAY IS IF YOU RELEASE A DJ MIX AND HAVE IT ONLY AVAILABLE TO BUY AS A DOWNLOAD AND NOT ON CD I"LL NEVER BUY IT. JUST SEEMS A WASTE OF MONEY. WHEN SO MANY DJMIX DOWNLOADS ARE FREE.
As for hardcore singles that's different because that is all they are available through as a payed for download.
Anyways glad I got that off my chest.

i rarelly use CD, unless my computer is dead and my ipod is out of battery.
Also, now that everyone can DJ (basicly...), paying for a DJ mix isn't especially "fun" anymore. Only one that wins on that is those who doesn't want to sell their singles/tracks as whole.

I've bought a few downloads in the past, I bought Jakazid - Universe...and CLSM - Hardcore Revolution/Breakbeat Revolution V1
but yeah, used to only buy cds when CDs were the In thing..and of course vinyl...butnow what with having no decks of any kind I tend to listen to stuff I've already got and maybe one or two DJ mixes/free tracks I've found on soundcloud
rave a week this july, and I couldn't tell you the name of 80% of the stuff I've heard played so far...and the 20% I did know were all in the "classics" sets. hah.
this is kind of funny, and slightly related - because I used to buy CDs when i was younger you used to know the cd, track number and name of artist/title/remix straight off the top of my head...of course now my CD collection has been ripped to the PC and gets loaded up BAM just like that, the songs play in shuffle mode and who knows whats playing whilst I'm sitting here typing - sometimes I have trouble putting my finger on obvious songs even though at one time I would be able to give all that info.. that comes from not DJing in ages and not having the physical media - haven't looked at my vinyl in a while, bet I couldn't name every piece I own anymore like I used to be able to.
BAH
late night keyboard tapping...should probably hit the hay before I start going on about how my wife tells me off for leaving the butter out but then she herself leaves my salad dressing out..so thats like double standards right?

haha. I was epically surprised at how many tracks i recognized myself at HTID In The Sun. I think I knew about 80% of it. But then again most of the stuff wasn't extremely brand new, with the exception of a few tracks here and there such as Gammer's latest stuff on soundcloud, as well as Never Forget You by DS. What surprised me even more is how many people recognized the pre-2000 stuff. Sure most of them were obvious anthems, but the majority of these people were young, barely 21 I bet. Yet they knew the lyrics by heart. I think some of y'all judge the newer crowd in hardcore a bit too harshly sometimes. Sure they get a bit rowdy, but at least they know the music.
Back on topic, I don't believe in paying for digital dj mixes, unless they're accompanied by the unmixed tracks. Nu Energy 100, Hardcore Energy 1 & 2 as well as Kevin Energy's My Rave were definitely worth the price! There's plenty of others out there as well on TID that do a bundle with both a dj mix and unmixed tracks. Now for sure I don't have a problem paying for a dj mixed cd if it's going to be good, which HU albums always are! seems like the only ones I'd be willing to shell out money for. I'll ebay the CXH series eventually just to complete the series.
