Found this on youtube, is a freeform set from Mark EG way back in 1996. Pretty sure this is where Sharkey and Energy got their influence. As they were both playing more the Happy Hardcore at this time. Is a great set.

I am deeply confessed the roots of Trancecore/Freeform can be found in the history of Hardtrance (when itself was strongly influenced by Happy Hardcore during these days).
I know some of you out there dislike me for repeating myself over and over, but I really like to post this Hardtrance set of RMB at the Mayday from 1994 to kind of prove my evidence.

Does anybody own the first Thunderdome album? There is loads of freeform on there before it was even considered/invented/thought of ect! Its why its my worst Thunderdome album I own (you can guess I'm not a fan of freeform)

I don't think there is any doubt that they got their influences directly from Hard Trance of the time. Hard Trance tunes were sounding like that long before Freeform/Trancecore. Some songs are not indistinguishable from one another genre wise.

Yeah the hard trance back in the mid 90s was a lot better than all the slow stuff that came out in the 2000's. Those links of what Mark E.G and RMB playing had alot more energy.
I remember my friends were all getting into guys like Jam X, Dumonde and Scott Project etc. And I was always like this is too fookin slow and would wait till someone like Kevin Energy or Sharkey came on.

I'd like to know the reason why nobody is starting a mix with proper Hardtrance and switching to Freeform Hardcore/Trancecore. The only mix I have rembered doing this was not very long ago on this forum and I thought that it worked pretty well.

I'm literally gobsmacked that hardtrance was about in 1994, i didn't think it was invented till 2000 or after

It's even older than 1994. The beginning and the middle of the 90's were the times of huge raves over here.
f. e. 1993:
I think the big boom started back in 1992 only a few years after normal Trance was invented by mixing ambient music with the electronic genres from the 80's.

I thought hardcore, house, techno and dnb were bascially the only types of dance music in the early 90's, didn't think trance came about till the mid 90's

The oldest Trance track I've ever heard is from 1990 (I think the first time I listened to it was back in 1992 or 1993). And once a DJ even played it in my favorite club over here a couple of months ago. I've never seen the crowd going more absolutley crazy afterwards.

considering most MOD tracker songs sound like this, I wouldn't be suprised if it came earlier than 1992

Yeah but it was mostly a very different genre back then. Check this out though, you will almost definitely know it and is from 1993, well ahead of it's time imo: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqIHVJX8HRU
