It pretty much is what the topic says: Hardcore underground has gone from being the compilation is didn't know existed till a year after its release to being the last big remaining and credible release of the year. CH8 took themselves out of the running last year with that dub step album. In that vein i was hoping to start a discussion on what we were hoping to come across in the next offering so that maybe some ideas may be taken on board.
Personally my biggest criticisms were the Mixing Djs playing too much of their own stuff that wasn't of a high enough standard and the sheer volume of tracks and little fillers that meant some great tracks were not given much length in the mix.
-I'd like to see that should Al storm be involved, he puts together some of the great stuff he can make like Tell me why for example.
- My good old mates Fracus and Darwin need to be split up because they are better on their own or with other people and i like the stuff they do apart.
-There needs to be more Brisk because as he seems to have stopped releasing stuff for over a year now, HU may be the only way to get hold of his tracks that are still cracking by anyones standards. I fear this solo album may turn out to be another John Sharkz :(
- Slipmatt has to be in there as his disk with Entity was the highlight of the last one.
- The freeform boys need to step it up and get a bit more Kevin energy on us because i feel his freeform was far more accessible than most of the twisty windy stuff that gets thrown out these days.
-MOST IMPORTANTLY LESS TRACKS!!!!!

Yea, the shortened tracks are getting annoying. Do the artists have less ideas to fill their tra.... oh wait they all sound the same anyways...

Yeah I agree that there should be fewer tracks. If there's a really great tune in a mix it annoys me when it finishes before I've even had 2 and a half minutes of it. The odd shorter track is fine but not a disc packed full of them IMO.

Although I as well prefer less tracks I have to agree with Rowan on this one. The excessive amount of tracks here works well. And if you want longer versions just go out and buy the unmixed tracks if/when they comd out.
And you clearly don't read much on here or follow Brisk on Fb because he's currently finishing up his artist album. It should be due out before the end of the year. Supef excited for it too, since he'll have his remixes of bulletproof and not an addict will be there. I honestly think that they did an excellent job on the last album, but it was obvious that the al storm and technikore cd was the weakest of the bunch. I don't think there's much more they can do to improve except to make sure all 4 cds are equally brilliant.

Brisk (solo) has been a bit of miss for me lately. But as long as it doesn't do a turn for a sharkey, I might as well just buy it :)

We all know very well the claims of a brisk album and i'm sure it will happen but my gripe is just how old some of those tracks that have been promised on it will be by that time. The whole issue of how long it takes for tracks to be released has been going on in different threads and i find it utterly retarded that we have to wait so long to get hold of tracks these days.

That's more or less exactly what i'd have said, thanks for saving me the time mate! :-p
HU albums are EXACTLY how i want mixes to sound. Multiple mixes from top drawer (and sometimes unexpected) artists, and despite some people's reservations they don't just use 3 or 4 labels' material. The only thing that affects the quality is how good the music is at the time and NOBODY can influence that.
There has never been so much to choose from, but i'm confident that the next HU album will have the very best of what's available, and as always the quality of the music will be more important than the name of the producer.
I can't wait to see what comes next, hopefully there will be some news soon to make up for the crippling disappointment of not being able to get to the event tonight. Gutted isn't the word!

I have to disagree. I didn't think Al Storm's CD was very god last time around. I think his sound is too mainstream and safe these days. Its like he's lost all inspiration and innovation. Shame, because when you look at tracks like Thugz, Rocking, Spinback and such, you'd not think he was the same person as he was a few years ago. No disrespect to the man, he's helped me a lot this year, but I don;t think his sound is right for this album. Al Storm's not Underground.

Think you might be disappointed here. Kev Energy is gone, and in his wake we have HBC, Watchtower, Stamina, and so on. They'll be pushing their sounds. I was a little disappointed to see the Freeform diluted by UK Hardcore such as Haywire, given the Freeform movement tries to distinguish itself as a genre equal to hardcore at every opportunity, butother than that the last disk was adequate.

No. HU had a wonderful blend of music across loads of styles. There were tracks I'd like to hear that were longer, so if I liked it enough I'd buy the track. If you want albums with less tracks and longer tracks, buy a Watchtower or Rebuild CD. The album projects are entirely different. HU is getting it spot on with their ethos and aims.

I usually mix 17-19 tracks and I have more blend of styles with longer tracks.

And is brisks album being released on hu?
I'd imagine it'll be on Next Generation, he didn't say quite that but I can't think why it wouldn't be.

I don't think Clubland Extreme Hardcore ever had credibility within the Hardcore scene from the start. Has always been a very commercial money driven album. Before it went dubstep it was filled with top 40 remixes of people like Katie Perry throughout which was alot worse.
Who should mix the next Hardcore Underground could be anyones guess. The amount of talent in Hardcore is just amazing at the moment.
I hope Slipmatt and Entity are on one of the discs. Breakbeat is such a big part of Hardcores history and these two did such a good job mixing it up with other forms of Hardcore.
I'm a big fan of Swiss T, Spyro, Pinnacle and Alex Prospect at the moment. They have a different sound to what alot of people are doing in the Hardcore scene. A disc mixed by some of these guys would give Hardcore Underground another angle to the diversity of Hardcore music it covers.
The HU creators Fracus & Darwin are always brilliant and a must on there of course.
Would'nt mind seeing Scott Brown do a mix with someone as he's like the Northern Hardcore Godfather:)
Some other names I've never heard do a mix CD and would like to are Mob, Dowster, Vagabond, Ponder, Sam B, Little Fella, Klubfiller to name a few.

tbh dutch hardcore/gabber has had equal as much influence on brittish hardcore, but that's not being represented on commercially sold discs, unless it has Scott Brown or maybe Brisk on it
