A lot of what I mix is from the 2009-2011 era (Orbit1, Darwin, Fracus, Gammer; just to name a few) but I really like the happy/UK hardcore sound from 2005-2008, it's easily my favorite hardcore sound. In particular, some tracks I really like are:
Stormtrooper feat. MC Knight - Hardcore Raver
Vagabond - Tokyo Rush
Brisk and Vagabond - Drift Away (although that's 2009 lol)
As for artists from the 2005-2008 time period: Sc@r, Brisk, Ham, Vagabond, Stormtrooper, Entity, Nu Foundation, Geos Crew, Scott Brown, Plus system. Those are most of the artists I have that make up my hardcore collection from 2005-2008, the ones that I really really like.
I have a few 2004-2008ish tracks but really not enough for me to feel comfortable mixing them for long periods of time as I really don't have enough tracks from that time period that work well together. What would you say are the "required" or highly recommended tracks/EPs/whatever I should check out? I dig around on Beatport a lot (Lethal Theory, Blatant Beats and other labels) but I really don't know where else to look (Trackitdown has pretty ridiculous prices, $3.50 for a single track?). Any and all recommendations would be very appreciated.

I'm just guessing about the dates but here's a few tracks from that time period that fit the bill
Sy & Unknown - All Night Long
Eclipse - 24/7 (Original Mix/Breeze & Styles)
Delano & Crockett - Missing (Kurt Remix)
Frisky & Hujib - Get Away (Gammer Remix)
D-Code - Like I Feel (Squad E Remix)
Fracus & Gav G - Open Your Eyes To Love
Eddie Would - Deeper (Chaos Remix)
Hixxy - Sacrifice
Kurt - Twilight Zone
Gammer - Now Its My Turn
Kurt - Space Odyssey 06
Marc Smith - Can You Feel It
Anything by: Stormtrooper, Robbie Long, D-Lyte, Re-Con, Gammer, Hixxy, Squad-E, Brisk & Ham, VAGABOND, Joey Riot, Kurt, D-Ice & Reality, Dougal & Gammer, Eclipse, Cube::Hard, Euphoria, Heaven-7 or Euphony from this time period will be good.
Or download Hardcore Heaven Vol 3, the Brisk mix is the ultimate album mix from that era
