Does anyone know the name of this track? It's from around the 1994 era.
http://www9.zippyshare.com/v/86319120/file.html Also does anyone who produces know what instrument that is on the lead? Is it a TB-303? I've watched a lot of synth demos on youtube and I've never really heard a 303 sound like that...but I have heard a Korg Mono/Poly sound similar to that lead before. But my best guess is that it probably is a TB-303 with a lot of resonance or something but I don't have one so I have no idea... thank you for any help!!

Regarding the lead sound, you are close. It's definitely not a TB 303 though, but another synth attempting the same sound. Very Very basic sound, just a saw with the resonance up full. However not all synths will produce the same sound due to the way the filter behaves, although any synth would ultimately do, it would just be a less accurate emulation. However the Novation V-Station (or A-Station) and Bass Station have filters that work that way. The filtering needs to be 'stepped' rather than have smooth seamless increments. This is actually undesirable if you want a 303 emulation but it's exactly what's required for this particular sound. There also seems to be some band pass filtering going on, also important.
I'm also working on finding out what the tune is, but we will have to see how that works out! Although someone else will probably know it.

Thanks for the thorough amount of information you shared about the lead sound. I'll try and give it a shot using V-Station following the info you provided....I got a free copy of V-Station with my X-Station 25 but I've never even installed it so I have no idea where that disc is at the moment lol.

Lucky! It's a really good synth and definitely worth while using. If all else fails I'll attempt to create the preset myself and give it to you. Oh and i forgot to mention, it's important to use the right distortion, so try different ones.

You ID'd them all unknowingly lol. I found the other track on the same record as Annihilator - Expansion. It's called Scott Brown's Annihilator - Mindwar and it's on a record called Scott Brown's Annihilator - Realm of Darkness (Mokum 44) Thank you for taking the time to listen to my samples and help me out!! I'm grateful for how many tracks you've been able to ID and so quickly as well...Props.

The guy i asked said the same thing. Youtube is a right mess and someone uploaded Expansion as Mindwar. Weird though as to me the tune you uploaded sounds nothing like the other 3, but the other 3 sound the same production wise. It's a good tune anyway and i have it in a couple of mixes. Definitely a favourite of that genre. Nice bassline! Edit: I just looked and pretty much everwhere has Mindwar as the same tune as Expansion. Really confusing.

I'm not sure if you understood my reply or not but this is what I was saying just in case....
This is Wax - Funny...
http://www42.zippyshare.com/v/73034496/file.html This is Scott Brown's Annihilator - Expansion... http://www42.zippyshare.com/v/75935803/file.html This is Scott Brown's Annihilator - Mindwar... http://www42.zippyshare.com/v/5093564/file.html This is Nightbreed - Motiv-8... http://www42.zippyshare.com/v/59656779/file.html I was saying you managed to also ID the remaining one by accident because I found it on the exact same record as the Expansion track you ID'd. Two of the ID's I was looking for ended up being on the same record.... This one http://www.discogs.com/Scott-Browns-Annihilator-Realm-Of-Darkness/release/5110

Haha nah i didn't know what you meant but that doesn't matter because everything else i said still applies. The missing tune was originally ID'd as one of the tunes actually on that release but i didn't put it down as i wasn't sure. Where have you found a tune that sounds the same as the second one because as i said, none of the ones labelled as that are the same tune.
