I'm curious as to why after all these years of being absent from the hardcore scene that he decides to release a lot of this stuff. Perhaps he's making a return to hardcore?

When he started being active on his fan page on facebook a few months ago (he may have even only just created it then as well, actually) he made a few posts - in between posting tunes - that gave off the impression he was just feeling a bit nostalgic.
