A blog update from Chris explains about his lack of desire to produce Hardcore, and how he may have outgrown it.

Wondering why people have to type walls of text to justify themselfs when they plan or are about to quit.
I went through this thoughts like 10 times at least since 2007 but i didnt bray out a speech every time. the key is balance in music taste. if i get tired of hardcore i listen to trance, house, ambient, goa, psychill or even jazz.
even though it's my personal way of dealing with music in general and i havent produced one single tune compared to Luna-C, i think he should just have said "i will have a break from hardcore, i produce *post random genre here*, enjoy yourselfs".
you can't say "i quit" because its shortsighted and i'm sure he isnt that type to quit aswell.
personally i don't like many of his tunes but he is a legend in the scene. hope he feels well in other genres

quote: Most of you may not want to hear about that, because the reason you come to this site is for hardcore or old skool. I understand I really do. I hate it when an artist I like says something like My new album is really different because the reason I like that artist is for what he does, not something else. But what can I do? This is where I am at personally, musically, and everythingally lol.
He's afraid what people would say if he does something different, when that's the only thing he has ever done since 2000? =P He's not Pendulum which has a very specific audience, or had =P
Anyways, I was actually not going to read the post, but I did and if I didnt, I was about to slate him for quiting hardcore completly... But he does what anyone else leaving hardcore (for another genre, not quiting producing music) should have done, and that's being open minded about producing hardcore from time to time or in the future, or maybe not at all!

Exactly.
He might come back to hardcore, or he might not. Nothing decided but at least he's answered some of the obvious questions, and hasn't gone attention seeking in any shape, way or form.
Personally, i'd love to hear what else he comes up with. Not all hardcore fans are so blinkered that they don't listen to other genres.

I don't think you'd enjoy his book.

They don't have to. But a lot of people are going to ask why, so it makes sense to do it once and only once. And to quote Luna C himself 'Still, I couldnt just say nothing and leave the site with no information or anything. All of you have supported me for years sometimes decades, and its just disrespectful to those of you who have been so fantastic and loyal, apart from anything else.'
quote: it seems nowadays the scene is filled with a great number of brilliant produced, beautifully made tracks. And majority of them are musically boring.
Isn't that the truth! Could not have said it better and is exactly how i feel.

ok, i get your points guys, he's far longer in the business and gained a quite large fanbase so he had to type an extra long summary of all the things since he's some kind of hobby author so people don't have the chance to bombard him with more or less important questions.
just tried to say i would have handled it differently if i would have been an producer for so many years just by using less words. imo., artists arent bonded to any genres, they just have to do what they like. i had the feeling he had not so many releases since decades, there were more remixes from other ones so thats why I'm a bit emotionless here
personally i would just drop an short message including information like" label is on hold, i try something different, may return to hardcore someday", but i'm not Luna-C so noone cares
