Wow Vladel, you've just really made my turning point in buying this album. I'm gonna pass.
The last clubland hardcore I got, I literally liked about 4 songs on it. Maybe 3. The cd that had Dougal & Gammer - Boing. Let me love you (Squad-E Remix). Sonic. It really made me not feel like buying any more.

Have you listened to any of the clips yet buddy?
Vladel is renowned for his brutal assessments (nothing wrong with that), so don't let that be a deal-breaker for you. I really feel there is some merit in a decent number of the Hardcore tunes. Worth investigating, at least. :-)

If you think 40-50% of the compilation is not hardcore then you don't know what hardcore is. The only thing about the compilation that deserves outrage, is the ****ing disgraceful quality of the Hixxy mix, which sounds like it was done by a 15 year old on Atomix or something. I don't know the terminology for it, but the beats are rolling and not sounding consistent. I can't listen to that shit. It's embarrassing.

last time I used Atomix (before it becoming virtualdj), it didnt have a high quality time stretch, or I was lucky to turn that off.
But I do agree, most of the tracks are Hardcore, but way to many have way to much drumstep influences. This is just listening to the clips on juno (cause i dont like browsing through TID for better clips).

Not yet Jay, I know I like concrete angel a lot. I will take a listen then before disregarding it. Think I'm gonna throw my money at Marc Smiths new album and the new HU Breaks cd coming soon.

I still need a proper listen to see what's what.
Here's the thing though.
If Breeze's mix is more D&B/Drumstep orientated then i want it. If it's Hardcore dressed in a Dubstep skirt i don't want it.
Plenty of decent tunes on the rest of it - certainly enough to buy. If the edits are as poor as expected, no real point buying the digital version (unless it's so cheap it makes it impossible to ignore).

Hixxy forgot how to mix? Pew, that's some heavy insult if you ask me.

People should check it out for themselves. I actually know someone who liked the last CXH8 and that's saying something! But it depends on what you're into whether you are going to like it. I really don't like the blatant amount of non hardcore on the mix and what there is doesn't really do it for me. A couple of years back i would have bought it without question and CXH7 is one of my favorite compilations i have ever come across!
I don't have anything to say about the mixing because i checked out the digital edits basically because who would care about the mixing if the tunes are bad? Maybe it seems harsh but if you take the stuff that these guys are churning out and compare it to their stuff from 2004 to about 2009, it's not even on the same planet.

I don't really get the purpose of those edits... They'll probably encourage some kiddies to build mixable versions in Ableton Live people will complain about.

The purpose of the edits is to listen to them at home or in your car, because especially in UK Hardcore DJ Intros aren't all that exciting. Having said that, all the full mixable tracks will be out on Future World in no time. They have a very quick schedule once the distributiion is sorted.
The edits are much better than the 2 minute shit on CXH8. I really like the digital release of this. Styles & Gammer are so good it's ridiculous. Breeze has a lot of DnB/etc. but he doesn't hide it. Hixxy's mix is the worst this time, because it is mostly stuck in 2010, while the production standard has been upped since.

Yeah, UK Hardcore really seems to have left Hixxy behind production-wise.

That makes all sense - I really hope the release schedule will be tight. Really enjoying the CD (bought on iTunes). So sad Re-Con isn't as active anymore, his tracks and remixes are so unique and high quality.

I believe it's compulsory to have the single tracks alongside continuous mixes to be listed on iTunes.

I hear you. I've managed to literally factor it out completely and ignore it, which is what people should do if they don't like it. I think they've encouraged people to ignore it if they don't like it (instead of complaining) by keeping the vast majority to one disc. Irrespective of the "But this is a Hardcore CD!" debate, it's tidy and it gets it out the way.

I can't really disagree. That was a pretty exceptional time. That said, I really do like some of these tunes. Stuff like Bye Bye, Forever the Concrete Angel remix - massively uplifting and no wub wub in sight! If those tunes had more traditional sounding (i.e. the golden period we've both referred to) kicks/basses - they would be proper unbelievable! But, I'll take what I can get it - and I'll enjoy these - a lot - as they are. :-)
