And I say forefront, because you don't hear a peep about Freeform, despite it probably veering from the classic Hardcore vibe even more.
That's because Freeform wasn't advertised as taking over the sound like Breeze did with his dubcore stuff.
Did he? I don't remember that.
as I dont remember what exactly what he said, but it was clearly in the line of "This is the new sound of Hardcore".
That quote could simply change the "the" to an "a" and it would have been more appropriate.
And honestly it all comes down to that being his opinion. It is the direction that the more mainstream UK hardcore is taking, but that is not the absolute sound of all of UK hardcore and he even knows that. I'm sure he's speaking in terms of the side of things he's messing around with.

It sounds like the kind of throwaway line producers put out before they release anything fresh. Seems a bit silly for anyone to take it too seriously. I'm sure we've heard the same sort of innocuous hype from Freeform producers too.

It doesn't matter how dedicated someone is to hardcore, it doesn't matter how much they love it and how much they wish certain producers would adhere to some flimsy criteria that they just made up for the genre. The producers have ZERO obligation to make music that anyone in particular wants to listen to, and the fact that people's frustration with producers is somewhat understandable doesn't mean that their whining is justifiable. You're not entitled to the music you want any more than they're entitled to your support. If you like what they make, then listen, if you don't, then don't, but this notion that the ravers have been somehow 'betrayed' is ****ing pathetic.
The use of new synths and tweaks in track structure are fundamentally no different than the changes that were made in the early naughties. Mid-track heavy breakdowns were largely ditched and the trance synths came in. There were people who tried to paint it as an affront to the scene then just as people are doing now, ironically many of whom seem to have switched positions. Why? Because it's not about principles, it's about certain people not liking certain sounds at the forefront of the scene, so they look for a way to rationalize why this new sound they don't like is somehow 'wrong'.
And I say forefront, because you don't hear a peep about Freeform, despite it probably veering from the classic Hardcore vibe even more.
I know you are the wrong consignee of my criticim!
Once again: producers can do whatever the f**k they want: I will not do anything to stop them, but I totally hate it when they are telling us that black is white or 1+1=3 and especially their crap is Hardcore.
Dubstep is a main rival to Hardcore just like Minimal is. So every try to combine both genres will end in a devastating result and debate like this one (what about Minimal Hardcore? It sounds so laughable and ironic: sad clown, winning looser, male gal, female guy, snow fall in the rain forest, etc.).
I think we need to face another split-up of the scene comparable to the one of the Drum'nBass/Jungle people (although at least they had the balls to erase any rave-related names from their new movement, while Breeze calls his Skrillex's dick sucking sound modern Hardcore).

I heard from a source that CLSM wanted Hardscape to be the new Freeform. I was happy to see that it never hit.

Dubstep and Electro are not "rivals" to Hardcore. Hardcore in the UK has incorporated elements from all sorts of other genres, and far from hurting it, it's likely what has kept it sounding so fresh and the scene so healthy, despite being so small. I don't see how you can use that rationale against the new stuff coming out but not against the stuff that preceded it. It's not like Hardcore started out using Trance syths or 4/4 kicks either.

Yea. Why don't we tell the Christian and Islamic people to move on, while we are at? :)
