When I first saw the news about all the top tier artists being included under the Futureworld umbrella I was skeptical, it seemed like there was no way that it could provide any variety at all and that the inevitable destruction of 3 or 4 of my favourite labels was nothing but bad news.

I've given it a bit of though and think that maybe I was a bit quick with my decision. Although there will now be less labels, maybe this is something that will in fact inject *more* variety than we've seen in recent years.

I was reminded of something Brisk said (I think) in an NG Podcast, which was something along the lines of "It's no wonder we don't have any anthems anymore, because we all just play our own tunes". Which is very much the case at the top tier, with a few exceptions it seems to be a case of pushing their own label.

With that being said, couldn't it be that by putting ALL THE ARTISTS under one roof, actually there will be more tunes by different producers played in sets by the top tier? That's what I think, though it doesn't really solve the problem for any of the up and comers and I don't think we'll see a real solution to that issue, except in the kind of parallel scene that runs alongside HH/SV etc. courtesy of people like Hard Beats Collective, HU, and other smaller events.

If that happen it would be great!

I'm still waiting for something to happen. So far there has been a cringeworthy statement released and a number of people have changed their profile pictures.

Hahah yes, that's true. I'm really hoping they manage to get the releases out in a timely fashion. At the moment yes, it's just a lot of talk

yea I really think this announcement of the new Futureworld label with all these big-name djs and producers was a wasted effort when they have nothing complete atm. I have a feeling most of these releases won't happen until closer to the fall season, seeing as how HTID In The Sun is coming up and they're sure to can out all these tracks that they've already been doing the last 2 years. Plus voting for the HH awards is also starting in the fall so I'm sure if they want to re-capture that label of the year award they'll want to give everyone a fresh reminder of Futureworld and will probably have the majority of those tracks released during that time.

That's what Hixxy was doing with Raver Baby.

UFO & Marley - Connections 2002 was out in late 2003 :P
