Agreed.
Yeah and strangely when it was released I remember an almighty uproar and some serious slating from most quarters. A real shame in my book as I loved the sound/vibe on Bonkers 7.

It's weird because I've only ever heard one person slate Bonkers 7 on here and that was back in 2003, I would have thought if it was that bad that more people would be complaining about it still, after all, that's what a forums for...right? lol
anyway, from what I recall they said "you couldn't even call it hardcore really"

can't share the opinion that hixxys bonkers 7 mix is one of the best while thinking of his work on part 3, 4 and 5, mainly because some B trax tunes sound too tinny if you ask me. case of personal taste, but i only liked dougals mix on bonkers 7.

Happy2bHardcore vol3-6 might have gotten me into hardcore, but I really liked Bonkers 7. I originally pirated them all but I have long since had them on actual CD. #hasirepentedyet? =P

copied from the other thread but a few might find this useful - or may be able to help expand on it?
I created this a while ago to help, though it needs a little updating as a few more bits and bobs have been released digitally since I created it.
I've also got one with tabs for the newer bonkers too..not sure where it's gone though

6 and 7 were the worst Bonkers by a country mile.
That is all.

I remember there was a whole thread about people's dislike of Hixxy's cd or at least a large chunk of a thread for their dislike of that album. Can't remember who or what was mentioned though.
I've heard clips of the stuff personally I think the stuff is just OK but I don't consider any of it ear-popping.

Well, personally I was never fond of 11
listening back to it now I have no problem whatsoever with it - but at the time It was released at the same time as about 243 other hardcore compilations and I was a bit "ugh, really, I feel like I've heard everything on here" loved bonkers 12 though, so it wasn't really a case of the style getting old, it was just like an odd blip in the bonkers series to me.
Like I said though, I quite like it now, now that it's not floating round in a sea of other hardcore compilations like it was.
I know people who swear by Bonkers 11, and nearly always in that case it's because it was their first ever Bonkers.
first Bonkers people get usually remains a soft spot in their hearts :)

Hixxy's mix on Bonkers 11 was basicly what put me of for the rest of the albums. I didnt even listen to Sharkey's or Scott Brown mixes just because of it, so I've probably missed out on lots of unreleased tracks

It's around the time vocals become more and more dreadful... I tried giving Bonkers 14 a chance by buying it. I ended up throwing it in the bin because I couldn't be arsed to re-sell it. In the end I also think it was around the time I started prefering to buy singles/unmixed albums instead because of my DJing interests.
