On an old compilation album I saw Dougals name under love of my life as producer /writer etc can anyone shed any light on this and if so why did he release it under an alias?

Presumable it's either Brisk and/or Ham, as it was released on Next Generation as "Northern Lights - Love of my Life"
http://www.discogs.com/Northern-Lights-Love-Of-My-Life/release/25619 NG019 a1 - Northern Lights - Love Of My Life (Ham mix) NG019 b1 - Northern Lights - Love Of My Life (Brisk mix) Northern Lights - Love Of My Life (Exclusive Brisk mix) But then, Dougal could've made a version predating Brisk & Ham's

From what I remember reading that the Dr. Who version was the first one, and was produced by Dougal and Mickey Skeedale, but Mickey was never credited. I could be wrong, but I do remember someone mention that it was indeed a collaboration.
Also all 3 that Samination mention are Brisk and Ham under the alias Northern Lights according to discog. But neither 3 of those sound anything like the Dr. Who version, so those 3 are a remake.
Alright I'm going to bed. You girls can figure it out amongst yourselves if Dr. Who was alone or if he really did in fact collab with another producer on that track.

I recall reading somewhere on the internet that it was from a dance song of the same name in 1996 by some girl band who has long disappeared into obscurity. I will try and seek out the name of the group unless anyone on here knows.

The Dr. Who version was the first version and it was a rip off of a Pandora track called (You'll Always Be) The Love Of My Life which is why it wasn't released officially.

Wow, any audio of this anywhere you know of? I never knew this, never thought it was original but no one has ever clarified it. I'm intrigued now.
I was always torn between the original version and the Juicy Cuts version, the Northern Lights mixes did absolutely nothing for me.

Just found it on the 'naughty naughty', can't believe I'd never heard it before and nobody has mentioned it.

Even better, didn't see that. Did they rip the vocals from another mix then, or record their own?

To clarify, yes Dr Who is Dougal (and whoever else presumably).
Nice to know that Dougal's version isn't really that much of a rip. Just uses the vocal. I expected it to be exactly the same but slower.

I think it was re-sung.

The pandora version was done in 1999, Dougals version was around 96-97 I believe

Pandora version wasn't 99, it was re-released in 99
original was '97 on their album

Yes, and Dougal's version came in 96. Although more than likely yes it is a bootleg. There's no telling how long before the album Pandora has been singing the song. Also most producers use an alias when releasing bootlegs, as well as release it on a "white label"
