I've fallen in big love with this tune, it's catchy as hell... but I'm a little bit curious as to the kick drum used. I'm not following the Handz up scene that much but I've heard the odd tune here and there this year using this "soft" kick drum.
Anyone can fill me on if this is the direction handz up is taking? Do you like it? Would the tunes be better with the traditional kick?

Thew only thing that differs him from Scooter nowadays is that he doesnt simply release simply copied tracks as much as Scooter does.
Quicksilver: If this is your own personal taste I will not question it. Approx 12 years ago I kind of liked the Hands-Up and gave it a chance for being a chance for a rave revival, but I failed miserably. Anyway, after listening to this track you should definitely check out the music of artists like Groove Coverage, Rocco, Jan Wayne, Cascada, etc.

I'm not new to the handz up scene, really, I have about 25 Future Trance albums for example. :P I just don't actively follow the scene like I follow hardcore, I just listen to the compilations albums being churned out. :)

I can understand why some hate it though.
I heard it used to be commercial genre back in the days. And yet many tracks can sound simple and "empty". Maybe thats why they hate it.
Well for me it's not hate, but 95% of it feels like being only terribly slowed down Hardtrance, Happy Hardcore or Jumpstyle cover versions. I simply miss creativity in this genre. But it's true that my personal taste of trancy music has radicalised again.

I think it's more accurate to say hardcore is sped up handz up and trance cover versions. ;)
In any case, what does it matter? If something sounds exactly the same or close to in 145 as it does in 170?

Well, first of all: Hardcore is much older than Hands-Up.
2) A lot of early Hands-Up were poor cover versions of old Hardcore/Eurodance/Trance tracks.
3) Playing a genre at the "wrong" speed does change a lot. Producers release sped up Dubstep crap and try to make us call it Hardcore. And Hands-Up sounds like playing old Hardcore tracks played on chewing gum speed or if I'd press "Pause" on my tape deck halfway. Would you prefer to watch a good movie in slow motion? I don't!

We miss creativity in many genres nowadays, hands up especially, which sucks ass. But what can we do? Producers' inspirations usually pop up from construction schemes they've already heard. If u have a standard hands up inspiration with melodies u find wonderful, being creative could ruin it for u. And you don't just abandon an inspiration cause it's based on an overused construction scheme. Those schemes are beautiful. Otherwise they would never get popular.

Bang on the money there! Remember when flip and phil starting bringing out all of the classic hardcore tracks and completly ruining them all by playing them slow and "dancey" or this hands up thing you're all going on about.

I totally agree! It's nice to notice when good and true music becomes commercially popular, but it fails if it changes its character simply to become popular. This is the reason why Hands-Up and Hardcore fail these days.

He didnt make makina. IT's just that hard trance in 98-00 went well with the hard trance influenced makian at that time.
