Hadn't released anything for a long time before then, as well.
And yeah, Quosh isn't ever coming back.

Well that's real sad news, one of my favourite labels and one of the originals.
Now I'm back I'll try and hang around a bit longer this time! I still feel rather out of touch with the scene, playing catch-up I guess for those missed years, but finding the time to catch up isn't always easy! Still I like the efforts being made to introduce some new ideas and sounds and also the support for some new artists.

Quosh stopped for reason related to what happened to Sy, and Unknown obviously choice the other side on the arguements.
Yes Ham venturing into d 'n' b and Vagabond taking a break and then returning with Candy Crush. So Brisk was left on his own more or less to run Next Generation but yeah had forgot he had moved to Australia.
What happened with Sy??

In a nutshell he was outed as an evil tyrant who looks at porn occasionally. MC Storm decided there's no place for such monsters in the hardcore scene so everyone else has to go along with it. Never felt so proud to be a part of the scene with heroes like MC Storm looking out for everyone in this way.

It's people like him that make me feel safe in my bed at night.

It's such a shame that Quosh is finito, i remember looking forward to buying the vinyls such as hyperspeed, free your mind, making me wanna dance, e.t.c (too many good releases)
UKN records is nothing compared to Quosh tbh, it feels like without Sy, Unknown just doesn't have that flair to make something great.
Effectively I've lost my hardcore and have now gone into the Psytrance scene. The people are much nicer (except hardcore underground; CDJay made me feel right at home there - props to you good sir!) and the events are much more centered around visuals and creating a unique party. Maybe one day i'll drift back but it's going to take something spectacular!

To be honest mate, I doubt you'll drift back. The mainstream sound - I can't see it reverting back to more traditional, non-harsh/non-electro sounds. It's always going to be too clean for you, I reckon. UKN Records being a good example.
There is a lot of good stuff out there, being produced by smaller labels and lesser-known artists. It just takes a lot of effort - consistent effort - to find them and follow them.

The question of whether or not Ham's coming back keeps me awake at night.
His dnb really isn't my bag at all but judging by the fact that he's signed to RAM and his tunes are being released left, right and centre on major compilations, he's probably earning a lot more money now than he was in hardcore. Fair play to him, I suppose. Absolutely gutted though.

Yeah I know..yeah not into his dnb either. Would be great to see him return with Next Generation in the future.
Got a couple of mp3s the other day...Brisk & Ham - Into your arms (Eclipse Remix), Brisk & Ham - Since you went away, Fire & Flames (Nu Foundation & Haywire Remix).

Ham's not returning to hardcore as far as I was told.
I think maybe down the road he'll be invested in a track or two, but he won't dive back into the scene headfirst ever again.

Investing in a track or 2 is still better than none from most of the ****s that left. Depending on the reason you stop making hardcore doesn mean you cant still make it... well except if you where in for it to make money, then has Hardcore even been a viable source of money, in comparison to most other genres?

Not everyone's reason for quitting the scene or moving to another genre will be the same, or that simple. But Ham's influence to go to DnB definitely was partly motivated by money. And I don't hold that against him, seeing as how he as a wife and a household full of kids to support. If he stuck around hardcore, where he never got the respect he rightfully deserved nor was making the same type of money as some of the more popular djs, just to satisfy his fans at the expense of his family, then clearly his priorities would not be in check.
And he is making good money at DnB, and he is quickly rising to fame. Sad that this newfound success is not happening while he's in the hardcore scene, but I think he's a great producer, even in DnB, and his success is well deserved.

Well he's always been more of the DnBish producer, unless he did collaborations

i've lost mine for the time being aint been making or listening to much hardcore the past year infact i've not been listening to much music at all the last 3-4 months most of my time has been spent trying to get my physical & mental health back on track aswell as decorating my flat and the way the hardcore scene is going in general is making the choice a lot easier it just seems like too much hard work searching for decent tracks that don't have fart noises in them
