Hey again,
So S3RL is the one who really brought me into happy hardcore. I've listened to almost all his tracks on Youtube and I really love his work. Now I'd like to discover a bit more things in the hhc world, so what DJs and/or particular tracks would you recommend me that are very similar to S3RL ?
I've listened to a few playlists, and it seems that I don't really like tracks that are too oldskool (the melodies are not my taste and the beats are not powerful enough imo), dark or that sounds like clubbing (I'm new but I'm already picky!  )
What I like about S3RL is the happy and energetic side and his catchy melodies.
(Is he considered happy hardcore or UK hardcore? I heard that hhc defines the 90s' tracks whereas UK hardcore is for nowadays tracks)

Honestly the majority of the big name DJs almost never plays anything by S3RL. And S3RL only plays stuff he produces lol. So it would be hard to find another DJ who only plays S3RL tracks, or even produces tracks to his likeness.
I think he would be considered UK hardcore, despite the fact that he is Australian. But his sound is definitely more on the happier, cheesier side than most of what's out there.

I would consider him a mixture of Happy Hardcore (he does has the most cheesiest vocals around atm), UK Hardcore and Freeform (he loves his guitarr riff a little to much at times). But he also makes good gabber :)
latin: really? Do they not play his tracks because they dont fit their sets? Well if you dont make sets with mixture of tracks like me that might not work :P

Well as far as UK Hardcore djs go, the majority of the time they seem to always play stuff they produce themselves, or stuff affiliated with their label and I guess "click". There are exceptions of course like Kutski, and DJ C I've heard him play a variety of stuff in his sets.
And I don't know I guess you can say it partly doesn't fit their sets, seeing as how S3RL has somewhat of a unique sound. I didn't hear 1 S3RL track in the whole week that I was at HTID ITS last year, not even from the Americans if I remember correctly. Maybe there were a couple of them but I must've missed them.
Only UK hardcore DJ I've ever heard play S3RL was Kevin Energy, and that was in Nashville, Tennessee on his last stop for his retirement tour for the US. And I think that was only because he was asked to play a cheesier hardcore set since American ravers don't hear much freeform here, nor do I see it taking off very well. He played T-T-Techno to open up and he played Dealer later in his set.

S3RL is quite different because he produces of Reason instead of a DAW that uses VSTs, meaning all the sounds you hear are (probably) his own creations; thats why he has a different sound to most UKHC producers. In terms of DJs, people do spin S3RL tracks, but it's almost always outside of the UK due to his sound being so different (I still play a lot of his tracks in my sets though).
For similar artists, I'd look out for tracks released on AWF and Executive, they were both Aussie labels that released a lot of S3RL's earlier stuff as well as artists that kinda sounded like his productions (Starstruck, Haze to name a few).

Yeah, I rarely put S3rl tracks in mixes because they sound so off from all the other tracks I mix from / into them.

This probably counts for the majority of producers these days or at least they seem to be sticked to their major labels. I remember the regular occuring claims in here that this takes place about such narrow-minded behaviour.

It's hard to think of anyone that sounds like S3RL cause he's big on cheesy girly vocals with anime cartoon themes which nobody else does. There's songs out there that can have some of those elements but that's as close as you'll get. Check out some J-CORE they have some cheesy anime songs, also RELENTLESS DIGITAL has a few artist that have remix songs of S3RL and some of their songs have similar sounds. A lot of the Australian djs have amazing tracks with lots of energy check out HAZE, ORBIT1,SC@R, and LUMIN8!

Lumin8 and Cheever - eastern sea, Australia With Force label, Executive Records with Dj Haze and Dj Weaver - Fallen Angel (older Aussie /UK Hardcore._) but I still listen to these tunes. Also search for Red Rocket - DJ Daydream - Galaxy, one of the early pioneers . Dj QT, team rocket crew

I always try to drop a Aussie hardcore track in my sets as much as possible usually either a s3rl, haze, jts etc track.
Played s3rls new DumDeDah at HtId Big Weekend on Friday.

dj Scar, you only 'just' joined this forum?? i'm a great fan of yours :-P , anyways i just can't stop listening to DJ S3RL and his awesome tunes! If his tunes were played in the 1995 raves, imagine how wild the ravers would go! WIcked stuff!

Happy, catchy melodies can be found in plenty of places. S3RL-style production can really only be obtained from S3RL himself. I find that pretty fortunate since I strongly dislike his sound and most of his tracks. Each to their own but if his style was to ever somehow become the norm, I would stop listening to hardcore.

Nagh been on HHC for about 6/7 years, even played on London Sounds Exposed for years but I can't access my old profile for some reason so I just rejoined and started again
